Zusammenfassung

Barnet Council is seeking an Audit Executive to deliver flexible and responsive audits across council services. You will take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

You will review value for money, identify system weaknesses, and contribute to service improvements. You will provide professional advice, support junior auditors, and participate in internal projects and training initiatives within the Assurance & Public Protection

Qualifikationen

  • Qualified in CIPFA, AAT, IIA or CCAB-recognised qualification with degree or equivalent.
  • Experience conducting internal audits in the public sector.
  • Strong understanding of local government finance and services; risk-based auditing experience.

About the role

As an Audit Executive, you'll play a key role in delivering flexible and responsive audits across a range of council services. You'll take ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. The role involves reviewing value for money, identifying system weaknesses, and contributing to service improvements. You'll also provide professional advice, support junior auditors, and participate in internal projects and training initiatives. This is a varied and impactful role within the Assurance & Public Protection Directorate.

About you
  • You'll hold a relevant qualification such as CIPFA, AAT, IIA or another CCAB-recognised qualification, along with a degree or equivalent.
  • You'll bring sound knowledge of auditing principles and standards, and demonstrable experience of conducting internal audits within a public sector setting.
  • A strong understanding of local government finance and services is essential, as is the ability to apply risk‑based auditing in practice.
