Location: Bavaria, Germany (Field-Based / On-Site)

Contract Type: Freelance

As the Installation Montage Manager, you will be the primary on-site operational leader responsible for executing the physical deployment of cutting-edge Digital Interlocking (DSTW) and ETCS Level 2 technologies on a major regional rail line. You will bridge the gap between engineering blueprints and trackside reality, managing field teams and subcontractors to deliver infrastructure safely, on time, and to exacting national rail standards.

Site Execution & Trackside Assembly (Montage)

• Oversee the physical installation of trackside equipment including Eurobalises, axle counters, and electronic point-switching machines.
• Coordinate the civil works, placement, and cabling of modular DSTW container nodes along the alignment.
• Direct the efficient dismantling and disposal of legacy mechanical or relay-based signaling infrastructure.

Possession & Window Management

• Plan and execute mechanical assembly works strictly within tight track-closure windows (Sperrpausen), ensuring zero disruption to surrounding active rail networks.
• Manage daily manpower, specialized machinery logistics, and material staging to optimize short possession windows.

Subcontractor & Field Leadership

• Supervise, brief, and evaluate specialized rail-civil subcontractors and internal electrical technicians.
• Ensure all field variations or site bottlenecks are resolved rapidly in consultation with the Project Engineering Office.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Act as the direct on-site interface for client site supervisors (Bauüberwachung) and ensure compliance with federal railway authority criteria.
• Prepare comprehensive, audit-ready site documentation and physical layout verification logs.
• Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Rail Infrastructure Technology, or a certified Master Craftsman / Technician (Meister / Techniker) background.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of field experience in railway signaling, track construction, or high-voltage linear infrastructure installation.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of national railway signaling standards, interlocking principles, and ETCS architectures.
• Languages: Fluent German (minimum C1) is mandatory for communication with infrastructure operators and regulatory inspectors; professional English proficiency is required for internal corporate reporting.
• Certifications: Valid European driving license; certification as a certified site safety manager is highly advantageous.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
