We at FarmInsect offer a cycle around Agritech products with regional insect breeding. This includes providing highly automated fattening systems and supplying farmers with young animals. We also buy back their overproduction of fattened larvae to process them into pet food. Our vision is to completely replace soy and fishmeal with insects as a regional and sustainable feedstuff. The advantage: our protein-rich feed is more sustainable, more resource-friendly and cheaper than the use of conventional feed in agriculture.

For our production location in 84564 Oberbergkirchen, we are looking for employees for R&D and production. The unit produces young larvae with which the customer plants are supplied. In addition, various trials are carried out to optimise insect fattening. As an Insect Production R&D Associate, you will play a crucial role in our insect production operations. Your responsibilities will encompass daily production tasks and ensuring the cleanliness and efficiency of the production area. According to the shift plan, you will be required to work occasionally at weekends. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to undergo training to enhance your skills and knowledge in insect biology, safety protocols, language proficiency, and workplace communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing daily production tasks related to insect production, including harvesting and sieving, exchange of eggtraps and pupae, and more.
• Engage in regular cleaning and maintenance of the production area.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during production activities.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve production targets and goals.
• Monitoring and documentation of all process parameters (e.g.harvest quantity).
• Driving deliveries to our customers.

Your profile

• BSc or MSc in entomology, biology, agricultural sciences, animal sciences, or a related discipline or an apprenticeship in agriculture fields or other relevant experience.
• Possession of a validdriver’s license(class B;formerly driving license class 3)andowncar.
• Good English and basic German language skills.
• Good technical understanding and manual skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience in a production role within feed industry, insectfarming, breeding etc desired.
• Strong communicationskills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges, analyze root causes, and implement practical, data-driven solutions to improve outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to continuous learning and upskilling in relevant areas, including insect biology, production techniques, and operations.
