European Patent Office in Munich is seeking candidates for a Patent Examiner with expertise in Information Technologies. You will evaluate inventions before they reach the public, from consumer products to advanced technologies, and contribute to scientific excellence and fairness.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field, speaks English at least at C1 (additional official EU languages welcomed), and brings curiosity, analytical thinking and a strong commitment to quality.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree (or equivalent/higher) covering one or more technical fields mentioned above.
• Excellent knowledge (at least C1) of English, French or German and the ability to understand the other two; alternatively, excellent knowledge (at least C1) of English and willingness to learn the missing languages to B2 within a set time frame.
• Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation.

Technical Expertise:

We are seeking candidates specialised in IT & Interaction and Applied Emerging IT Technologies to evaluate innovative technologies relating to magnets, transformers, inductors, coils, magnetic assemblies, and their associated electrical circuits.

The ideal candidates possess knowledge and/or practical experience in one or more of the following areas:

• ICT security (cryptography, application security, wireless security, Identity and Access Management (IAM), cloud security, cybersecurity, blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI) alignment, safety, or security)
• Interactive and Visual Computing (Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), computer Vision, image processing)

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree (or equivalent/higher) covering one or more technical fields mentioned above
• Excellent knowledge (at least C1) of one of our official languages (English, French and German) and the ability to understand the other two; alternatively, excellent knowledge (at least C1) of English (in such cases, the willingness to learn the missing languages and to reach level B2 within a set time frame would be required)
• Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation
