Job summary

Ramboll Group in Berlin seeks an Electrical Engineer specializing in Underground HV cable systems to join our Power Systems team. You will work on offshore wind, cable routing, and installation strategies across international projects, reviewing documents, performing thermal calculations, and coordinating with clients and third parties.

Qualifications

  • Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience in underground HV cable design (66kV–400kV).
  • Experience in CymCap or other cable rating software.
  • Experience in working with cable-related international and local standards.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch and German languages are a plus.
  • Junior/graduated candidates with cable system design experience welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Review project documents, perform gap analyses, and prepare technical reports.
  • Client and third-party management (civil, substation, crossing, etc.).
  • Cable rating and thermal calculations.
  • Underground cable routing development and installation strategy.
  • Site visits prior to and during installation; commissioning support and inspections.
  • Preparation of inspection and test plans and evaluation of test results.

High Voltage Cable Engineer – Underground HV cable system

Your new role

As our newElectrical Engineer, you will join a team of more than 50 passionate and high performing HV, MV and LV specialists working predominantly within the global Energy industry. We are particularly focused on offshore wind, power-t-X, carbon capture and energy transition projects. We cover all phases of project delivery including concept and feasibility studies, detailed engineering, EPC and follow-on engineering on international projects.

Your key role will be:

  • Reviewing project documents, gap analysis, and preparing technical reports
  • Client and third party management ( civil, substation, crossing, etc)
  • Cable rating and thermal calculations
  • Underground cable bonding design, jointing arrangement, assessing interface with transition joint bay, substation, and civil works
  • Underground cable rote development and installation strategy (e.g. direct burial, HDD and drilling, crossing design)
  • Site visit prior and during installation, commissioning support, cable factory visit and test inspection during cable manufacturing (traveling abroad may require)
  • Preparation of inspection and test plan, reviewing and evaluating of the test results, and involving in non-conformalities during manufacturing, installation and commissioning

Your new team

You will be part of the Power Systems department at Ramboll GCC, where we support our clients on due diligence, permitting, compliance (audit), management systems and a wide variety of other EHS projects internationally. We work on challenging projects together with colleagues around the world from our Environmental and Health Division, and with other Ramboll Divisions.

  • Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering
  • +2 years’ experience in underground HV cable system route design, civil works and installation, 66KV up to 400KV
  • Experience in Cymcap or other cable rating software
  • Experience in working with cable related international and local standards
  • Fluent in English. Dutch and German languages are big plus to deal with local clients
  • Experience in cable accessories is a plus
  • Junior/ graduated candidates with cable system design experience during bachelor/master are welcome to apply.
