Electricity is becoming the operating system of the world economy. Decarbonized industry, electrified transport and heat, and the computing infrastructure required for artificial intelligence all depend on reliable and innovative electrical products and distribution systems.

We are looking for an experienced and hands‑on executive to lead our global Research & Development and Technology organization. In this role, you will combine the operational leadership of a large, globally distributed R&D organization with the strategic responsibility for the technology roadmap of Siemens Electrical Products. You will shape the continued development of our strong electromechanical portfolio while accelerating the integration of power electronics, electronics, connectivity, software, and intelligent product capabilities across Europe, India, China, and other international locations.

What will be your role and responsibilities?

Strategic R&D and Technology Leadership

• Define and implement an integrated global R&D and technology strategy across product programs, technology roadmaps, platforms, architectures, and selected exploratory initiatives to strengthen long‑term competitiveness and sustainable growth.
• Lead a global R&D and Technology organization of more than 1,000 employees across Europe, India, China, and further international locations, with responsibility for an R&D budget in the triple-digit million‑euro range.
• Drive the R&D contribution to the company programs and align technology roadmaps, platform strategies, development priorities, and resource allocation across Electrical Products.
• As a direct report and strategic technology partner to the pre of Electrical Products, you will translate long‑term industry and technology trends into clear portfolio, platform, capability, and organizational priorities.

Technology and Portfolio Development

• Shape the future portfolio by further developing the electromechanical product foundation while expanding power-electronics- and semiconductor-based solutions, advancing direct‑current architectures, and enabling connected, software-supported products.
• Advance the secure connectivity and IoT strategy and evaluate how data management and artificial intelligence can create measurable customer and product value.
• Lead the evolution toward increasingly connected, intelligent, and updatable products by integrating electronics, communication, software, cybersecurity, and cloud capabilities into a strong electromechanical product portfolio, while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
• Embed sustainability into engineering and product decisions by advancing circular and repairable design, eco‑design, material efficiency, lower losses, and a reduced product carbon footprint.
• Lead the global R&D footprint, capacity allocation, capability development, and collaboration across development locations, with clear missions and end‑to‑end accountability for product development.
• Provide hands‑on leadership for the execution of product and development roadmaps, working closely with Product Management to translate market requirements into differentiated, competitive, and technically robust products.
• Remain close to products, laboratories, development teams, and manufacturing environments, enabling fact‑based technical decisions and effective problem‑solving directly where products are designed and developed.
• Advance platform, architecture, and reuse strategies through modular solutions, virtual validation, and pre‑certified building blocks, improving development efficiency, product quality, and time‑to‑market.
• Modernize R&D through model‑based systems engineering, digital continuity from requirements to field data, simulation‑led design, and the targeted use of artificial intelligence in R&D processes.
• Strengthen the global R&D environment by harmonizing product lifecycle management tools, increasing platform consistency, and fostering effective collaboration and knowledge sharing across segments and development locations.

Representation and People Leadership

• Represent R&D and Technology toward the president, senior business and technology partners, Product Management, manufacturing, quality, and selected external partners, customers, research institutions, industry associations, and international standards bodies.
• Lead, motivate, and develop senior leaders, technical experts, and employees across a globally distributed organization, building a high‑performance, collaborative, and innovation‑driven engineering culture with strong leadership and technical succession pipelines.
• This is a highly presence‑oriented leadership role. You will work regularly at our key development and product locations, with a strong presence in Amberg, Germany, where a significant part of the organization is based. International travel and the flexibility to spend extended periods at global sites are essential.

What you need to make a difference:

• An advanced academic degree or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering or a closely related technical field. Candidates with a background in physics may also be considered if they bring extensive professional experience in the electrical or electrification industry. A doctorate is an advantage.
• Extensive professional experience, including significant executive leadership responsibility within large, globally distributed R&D and Engineering organizations spanning multiple development centers and cultures
• Deep technical and product experience in electrical engineering, electrification, electromechanical systems, or comparable industrial products, combined with a sound understanding of power electronics, electronics, embedded software, connectivity, and system architecture.
• The ability to combine strategic technology leadership with hands‑on operational R&D management and to engage credibly in detailed discussions about products, systems, architectures, and engineering trade‑offs.
• A strongtrack recordin transforming R&D organizations, technology portfolios, platforms, architectures, and global engineering capabilities, translated into successful products and measurable business results.
• Experience in managing technology and product portfolios, leading global R&D organizations, overseeing significant innovation investments, and driving strategic make, partner, or buy decisions.
• Strong critical thinking and business sense, with the ability to set clear priorities, make evidence‑based technology and investment decisions, anddiscontinueactivities that do not support the strategic direction.
• The ability to navigate a complex global matrix,establishclear decision rights, resolve conflicts constructively, and collaborate closely with business leaders, Product Management, manufacturing, quality, and other multi‑functional partners.
• Excellent executive communication and partner management skills, combined with the ability to develop senior leaders, technical experts, and successors in a global organization.
• An international approach, fluency in English, and proven experience in leading across countries and cultures. German andadditionallanguages are an advantage. The role requires regular on‑site presence at key development locations, particularly in Amberg, as well as extensive international travel and global mobility.
