Job summary

Breitseite in Germany seeks a Head of Export Control EMEA to shape uniform standards across the region. You will lead the central team, coordinate with plants and subsidiaries, and report to the Managing Director.

The role requires a degree in economics, law or industrial engineering, several years in export control, and proven leadership in a matrix environment. Fluent German and English are essential, with willingness to travel 50–60% outside the EU.

Qualifications

• A degree in economics, law or industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of experience in export control, trade compliance or customs, ideally in industry.
• Experience leading small teams, functionally or disciplinarily.
• Ability to win people over at all levels and drive change in a matrix organization.
• Integrity, discretion and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
• Very good German and English.
• Willingness to travel: around 50 to 60% travel, mainly outside the EU, particularly the Middle East.

Responsibilities

• Strategically expand export control across EMEA and harmonize processes.
• Lead the central team and act as the functional point of contact for export control officers at all plants and companies.
• Assess business transactions for risk and compliance: product classification, sanctions screening, end-use checks.
• Manage export licenses and license management.
• Be the point of contact for BAFA and customs authorities and establish uniform customs standards.
• Chair the EMEA Export Control Committee and report to the global headquarters.
• Build awareness through training, audits and personal visits to customers and partners.
