Job summary

Breitseite is seeking a Head of Export Control EMEA to shape unified standards across the region and lead the central team with a direct line to the Managing Director. This role drives risk assessment, license management and strategic compliance in a highly international technology environment.

You will build awareness through training and audits, coordinate with plants and authorities, and travel extensively outside the EU, particularly to the Middle East.

Qualifications

• Degree in economics, law or industrial engineering, or comparable qualification.
• Several years of export control, trade compliance or customs experience.
• Experience leading small teams, functionally or disciplinarily.
• Ability to win people over and drive change in a matrix organization.
• Integrity, discretion and pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
• Very good German and English.
• Willingness to travel: 50–60%, mainly outside the EU, especially the Middle East.

Responsibilities

• Strategically expand export control across EMEA and harmonize processes.
• Lead the central team and act as the functional point of contact for export control officers at all plants and companies.
• Assess business transactions for risk and compliance: product classification, sanctions screening, end-use checks.
• Manage export licenses and license management.
• Be the point of contact for BAFA and customs authorities and establish uniform customs standards.
• Chair the EMEA Export Control Committee and report to the global headquarters.
• Build awareness through training, audits and personal visits to customers and partners.

Your profile: what you bring

• A degree, for example in economics, law or industrial engineering, or a comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in export control, trade compliance or customs, ideally in industry
• Experience leading small teams, functionally or disciplinarily
• The ability to win people over at all levels and drive change in a matrix organization
• Integrity, discretion and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach
• Very good German and English
• Willingness to travel: around 50 to 60% travel, mainly outside the EU, particularly the Middle East

Nice to have, but not a must: experience with BAFA, screening or ERP systems, additional European languages
