Seobility, part of the saas.group network, seeks a Head of Engineering to lead our technical core of a high-traffic SEO SaaS product. You will report to the CEO and champion AI-native engineering, align strategy with product goals, and mentor a senior, distributed team.

The role offers full remote work with an optional office in Nuremberg, Germany, and requires strong English communication. You will drive architectural decisions, platform health, and cross-functional collaboration across Europe.

Head of Engineering at Seobility - Remote Europe - Remote

Remote Flexibility & Timezone Constraints: This is a fully remote role, which is excellent for location-independent professionals — but with a meaningful constraint: you must work within ±2 hours of CET (Central European Time). That means your ideal base should be somewhere between UTC+0 (Lisbon, London) and UTC+4 (Dubai, Tbilisi). Popular nomad hubs like Lisbon, Berlin, Warsaw, and Tallinn all fall squarely within this window.

Best Nomad Destinations for This Role:

• Lisbon, Portugal (UTC+0/+1): Within the CET ±2 window, excellent coworking scene, and EU digital nomad visa available. A senior engineering leader salary would afford a very comfortable lifestyle here.
• Tallinn, Estonia (UTC+2/+3): Estonia's e-Residency and digital nomad visa make it uniquely accessible. CET +2 fits the requirement. Lower cost of living than Western Europe.
• Warsaw, Poland (UTC+1/+2): Affordable, excellent infrastructure, strong tech community, and perfectly aligned timezone. EU residency options abound for European nationals.

Async vs. Synchronous Culture: As Head of Engineering reporting to the CEO, this role will require regular synchronous collaboration — leadership sparring, team check-ins, and cross-functional alignment. Pure async nomad lifestyles may be challenging; plan to maintain consistent CET-aligned working hours rather than chasing timezone arbitrage.

Visa Considerations: The role is open across Europe broadly. EU/EEA nationals have the widest flexibility. Non-EU applicants should target countries with active digital nomad visa programs (Portugal, Estonia, Croatia) that allow legal remote work within the CET ±2 band.

Role Overview

As the Head of Engineering at Seobility, you lead the technical heart of a mature, high-traffic SEO SaaS product. We've just completed a large relaunch of the platform last year - and are digging into the real work now: evolving what an SEO tool does as AI rewrites how people search and what they expect from software.

In a rapidly changing market shaped by AI-driven search, you lead our organizational and technical evolution. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will bridge the gap between engineering challenges and business impact. You guide the team through a transformation toward greater autonomy and lead them towards outcome-focused execution and AI-native engineering. We're a small, senior team — ambitious and driven, but we genuinely look out for each other. You'll find real scope to own and room to grow.

Your Impact (First 3–6 Months)

• Build Trusting Partnerships: Establish deep working relationships with the engineering team and tech leads to foster our culture of psychological safety and high performance.
• Enable Distributed Ownership: Support the team in fostering ownership for outcomes. Guide the transition from functional (FE/BE) to end-to-end ownership.
• Optimize and Leverage: Partner with the team to identify friction, bottlenecks and AI leverage potential. Implement a value-driven delivery flow with improved predictability and velocity.
• Strategic Roadmap: Start executing on a roadmap that balances the strategic transformation of our engineering (e.g. tech debt, AI-native engineering, upskilling) with our product innovation goals.

Responsibilities

• AI-Native Engineering: Spearhead the adoption of AI-native engineering practices to substantially increase engineering efficiency.
• Organizational Transformation: Guide the evolution from functional roles to broader roles and outcome-orientation. Bridge gaps between Product and Engineering, reduce dependencies, and empower the team to deliver end-to-end value.
• Technical Vision: Own and co-create the technical vision & roadmap with your Tech Leads, balancing tech debt reduction with feature delivery.
• Platform Health: Ensure our data-heavy platform is fast, reliable, and secure as it scales — with data privacy and GDPR handled as a matter of course.
• People Development: Mentor and empower an international engineering team to embrace full ownership and foster confidence in autonomous decision-making.
• Strategic Collaboration: Act as a high-level sparring partner to the CEO and Product leadership, and partner with the saas.group Central Platform team on DevOps and infrastructure topics. Navigate trade-offs between technical sustainability and delivery speed.

What You Bring to the Table

• SaaS Leadership: Proven track record of leading engineering teams in a high-scale production environment, with a focus on efficient team structures and operational excellence.
• Technical Credibility: High technical credibility across modern stacks (ideally PHP/Laravel, Vue.js, and cloud infrastructure) with particular strength in architecture and system design.
• AI First: A forward-thinking approach to AI as a core lever for both product features and engineering productivity.
• Product-First Mindset: Strong product sense; you are a key partner for user value creation and prioritize engineering efforts based on customer value and business impact rather than technical elegance for its own sake.
• Change Management: Skilled at building alignment during transitions, leading teams through change and resistance to a new rhythm and velocity.
• Enabler Mentality: You measure your success by what your team ships, not only by what you personally build.
• Domain Understanding: Knowledge of SEO-related web technologies (websites, crawling, indexing, content analysis) is a strong plus.
• Communication: Fluent English is a must; German is a strong advantage given the brand's roots.
