Job Summary

The Robotics Hardware Technician II is a mid-level positions focused on hands‑on support for robotic hardware systems, designed to prepare individuals for long-term growth in the field of robotics and automation.

A Tech II role is for a more experienced and independent technician capable of executing routine assembly and maintenance tasks. This position requires the ability to read basic schematics, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot common mechanical or electrical issues without constant supervision.

Tech II — Core Responsibilities
  • Assist with or perform assembly, wiring, and installation of robotic systems; integrate and fit-check robotic mechanical prototypes (brackets, frames, linkages, gearboxes, bearings, linear guides, end-effectors, etc.)
  • Fabricate, modify, and finish simple mechanical parts and fixtures using tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinders, taps/dies, and hand tools.
  • Operate and perform basic daily preventative maintenance on robotic workcells and prototypes.
  • Conduct mechanical fit, form, and function testing; measure and verify dimensions, clearances, runout, backlash, and alignment using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
  • Install and torque fasteners to specification; apply thread‑locking compounds.
  • Build and rig test fixtures, jigs, and mock‑ups for durability, impact, and life‑cycle testing of mechanical components.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area; help track and organize hardware inventory.
  • Actively participate in and promote a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, management, and contract partners to provide clear communication and timely updates.
  • Document maintenance, repairs, and configuration changes clearly in logs or ticketing systems; provide feedback to engineers on recurring hardware issues.
  • Exhibits behaviors reflecting a commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Participates in on‑site meetings and training as needed.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs, including replacing worn components and verifying robot operation after service.
  • Diagnose and resolve common mechanical/electrical issues (faulty sensors, wiring problems, misalignment, minor mechanical failures).
  • Adjust and jog positions on robot axes; perform I/O checks to support production or R&D tests. Verify configurations against known values and report discrepancies.
  • Collect data and take measurements in support of reliability testing.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and client onboarding requirements.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude or hands‑on experience with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read basic schematics
  • Friendly and collaborative demeanor; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to solve problems, adapt, or recommend changes to improve outcomes.
  • Competency in following quality control and safety measures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute to a cohesive team environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions from an engineer or supervisor precisely and consistently.
  • Strong initiative, reliability, and common sense.
  • Ability to stand and remain on your feet for long periods of time; ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Ability to remain mobile throughout labs and active warehouse environments.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and shifts to meet company and client deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted and without accommodation.
