Your role
As a Hardware Development Engineer, you will work as part of an expert team of hard‑ and software developers on battery management systems which are among the world‑leading ones regarding safety, features and costs. Your field of responsibility will be the development of hardware components for battery applications, as well as the design and development of innovative test devices. Besides the ownership of hardware designs, you will implement the overall hardware product test concept and execution with the respective hardware product owner and report directly to the head of hardware development. You add to our existing battery management expertise your experience and your proficiency in the fields of analog and digital circuit functional design and testing, (partial) automatization of hardware tests and conception of test equipment.
Your future tasks at a glance
- Design Responsibility for Circuit Components and/or complete PCBAs and ownership of release process
- Component selection, supplier communication during development, creation and maintenance of component libraries
- Circuit design in Altium Designer
- Design analysis and documentation according to requirements from Customer and ME internal
- Specification, Design and construction of test devices and equipment to perform HW level tests
- Execution of HW component and HW integration level tests on prototypes, development samples and series products
- Support the creation of test requirements and test sequences, considering internal and customer requirements and development of risk analysis tools, of used technologies and required mission profile
- Scripting test sequences to allow partial or full automation of HW test cases
- Documentation of test results, maintaining traceability with test cases and HW requirements
- Support the Root Cause Analysis of component or design failures after testing
- Resource management of test equipment in cooperation with the respective project owners and other stakeholders.
What You Bring With You
- Successfully completed studies in an engineering field (mechatronics, electrical engineering, automotive engineering or similar)
- Working experience in designing, testing and analysis of electronics, automotive experience
- Knowledge of HW component and integration test methods and strong background in the planning, execution and automatization of test cases. Knowledge of python is a plus.
- Experience in the field of electronics design and manufacturing, ability to generate schematics and layouts and read drawings
- Highly motivated, willing to take responsibility and ownership of a project
- Creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm for innovative electronics solutions for electric vehicles
- Preference for working in teams and strong communication skills (English; German favorable)
