The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft ( www.fraunhofer.com ) is one of the world's leading organizations for application-oriented research. 74institutes develop pioneering technologies for our economy and society – more precisely: 30000 people from technology, science, administration and IT. They know: Anyone who comes to Fraunhofer wants to and can make a difference. For themselves, for us and for the markets of today and tomorrow.

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF, we know our technologies like the back of our hand. Because we are one of the few scientific institutions worldwide to conduct research along the entire semiconductor value chain and on tailor-made synthetic diamonds. Whether high-frequency circuits for communications technology, voltage converter modules for electromobility, laser systems for measurement processes, or innovative hardware and software for quantum computers and quantum sensors: we develop tomorrow’s technology in-house for a sustainable and secure society. When will you join us?

Take your career to the next level as a group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics (IAF) in the field of circuit design with artificial intelligence (AI)! Become part of our AI team at the brand-new “Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence” at our branch in Heilbronn ( ipai campus ). Together with leading partners from industry and science, you will research and develop electronic CMOS digital circuits with AI for AI! Be part of our efforts to advance revolutionary AI applications in the diverse fields of automotive, robotics, space, and security using AI-supported circuit design!

Around the world, intensive efforts are underway to improve the use of artificial intelligence. Optimizing the basic hardware components required for the enormous computing power needed plays a crucial role in this. The development of application-specific circuits and (sub)systems is key to realizing groundbreaking applications. This is where you come in: We need your expertise and creativity to develop innovative solutions together with us and help shape the future of AI technology!

  • Communication professional: You inform your team about important departmental matters and are in regular contact with the institute's departmental management and national and international project partners.
  • Mentor: You promote the professional qualification of your employees and participate in the selection and development of new talent, and you guide PhD students on their way to their PhD.

What you bring to the table

  • Personal responsibility and internationality: Your independent, goal-oriented way of working is complemented by business fluent English skills, which will benefit you in an international work environment.
  • Business know-how: You have basic knowledge of finance and business management.

What you can expect

  • Shape the future: Work in a forward-looking environment and actively contribute to the development and implementation of innovative technologies.
  • Responsible role: Take on a key position in which you can effectively apply your scientific and organizational talents.
  • Practical projects: Develop exciting, application-oriented projects and establish close contacts with industry partners and public clients.
  • Active participation in research: Participate continuously in the current research discourse and enjoy the freedom to pursue your own research projects.
  • Networking and exchange: Benefit from exchanges with colleagues within the Fraunhofer Society as well as with other scientific institutions and industry.
  • At the cutting edge and ahead of the curve: The combined expertise in the fields of artificial intelligence and microelectronics in Heilbronn enables you to optimally position your career and help shape Germany's technological future.

The weekly working hours are 39 hours. The position can also be filled on a part-time basis. The position is initially limited to three years, but the aim is to establish a longer-term collaboration.
