Job summary

Next Ventures is seeking a German Payroll Implementation Consultant to lead German payroll projects from discovery to go-live, collaborating with customers across Germany and beyond. You will combine deep German payroll knowledge with implementation, transformation and stakeholder management to translate complex payroll requirements into effective processes and technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of German Payroll.
• Good understanding of German payroll legislation, taxation and social security requirements.
• Experience within Payroll implementations, system transformations, migrations or significant change programmes.
• Experience working directly with customers or internal business stakeholders.
• Ability to understand Payroll requirements and communicate them effectively to technical and functional teams.
• Fluent German.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support and deliver German Payroll implementation and transformation projects.
• Understand customer requirements and translate them into functional Payroll processes and solutions.
• Work directly with customers, Payroll teams, HR, IT and technical specialists.
• Participate in requirements gathering, workshops and process design.
• Support system configuration and functional solution design where relevant.
• Coordinate and execute testing activities, including SIT and UAT.
• Support data validation, migration and Payroll reconciliation activities.
• Contribute to parallel Payroll runs and implementation readiness.
• Support customers through go-live, hypercare and stabilisation.
• Identify opportunities to improve and optimise existing Payroll processes.
• Act as a German Payroll subject matter expert throughout the project lifecycle.

The Opportunity

We are supporting an established international payroll and HR technology organisation that is expanding its German Payroll implementation capability.

The business is looking for experienced German Payroll professionals who can combine strong functional payroll knowledge with implementation, transformation and customer-facing responsibility.

This is not a purely operational payroll position.

The focus is on helping organisations implement, transform and optimise their German Payroll environments, translating complex payroll requirements into effective processes and solutions.

Importantly, candidates do not need to come exclusively from a traditional consulting background. Professionals who have gained relevant implementation and transformation experience from within an internal Payroll or HR function will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and deliver German Payroll implementation and transformation projects

What We Are Looking For

Essential

• Strong knowledge of German Payroll

• Good understanding of German payroll legislation, taxation and social security requirements

• Experience within Payroll implementations, system transformations, migrations or significant change programmes

• Experience working directly with customers or internal business stakeholders

• Ability to understand Payroll requirements and communicate them effectively to technical and functional teams

• Fluent German

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills

Relevant Backgrounds

The organisation is open to candidates coming from:

• Payroll or HR technology consulting

• Payroll service providers

• Internal German Payroll teams

• Payroll transformation or HRIS functions

• German Payroll SME / key-user positions

Client-side implementation experience is therefore relevant, provided you have played an active role in delivering Payroll change rather than purely operational Payroll processing.

Technology

SAP Payroll experience is valuable but not mandatory.

The priority is strong German Payroll knowledge combined with implementation capability and the confidence to work directly with customers.

Experience with SAP HCM Payroll, Employee Central Payroll, SuccessFactors or other enterprise Payroll platforms would be beneficial.

The Profile

This opportunity would suit someone who understands German Payroll beyond simply running the monthly process.

You may already be delivering Payroll implementations within consulting, or you may currently be the Payroll SME on the customer side working alongside implementation partners, defining requirements, testing solutions and supporting transformation programmes.
