The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at RWTH Aachen University invites applications for a Full Professorship (W2, Tenure Track W2) in Experimental Astroparticle Physics. This is a tenure-track professorship for a five-year term leading to a tenured W2 position. The position is funded by the Tenure Track Program of the German federal and state governments. Profile of the professorship

We are inviting applications for the position of full professor in the area of experimental astroparticle physics, to be filled as soon as possible. The applicant carries out experimental research in the field of astroparticle physics, broadly defined. He/she has achieved international visibility through publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals. The research may focus on the development of detectors or data analysis in one or more of the following areas: cosmic rays, gamma rays, neutrinos, dark matter, axions, gravitational waves. She/he will be interested in developing synergies with existing RWTH activities in particle and astroparticle physics and beyond. The professorship will be tenured after successful evaluation. The future professor is expected to raise external funds, to contribute to the strategic development of the department and to teach experimental physics at the bachelor’s and master’s level.

Your qualifications

The requirements include a doctoral degree and additional research experience, such as a habilitation (post‑doctoral lecturing qualification) or equivalent achievements gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia. Teaching ability and dedication are essential and the application should include proof of this. Fluent German is not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years. Participation in academic self‑administration is expected.
