What will I be doing?
A Night Manager oversees the night‑hour supervision of the Front Office Team to ensure that Team Members are prepared and well‑informed to deliver our Guests an exceptional experience from check‑in through check‑out.
- Oversee all front office operations to maintain high standards
- Act as a point of contact for regular guests and VIP guests
- Carry out night audit duties
- Maximise room occupancy at the best rates and use upselling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities
- Apply correct procedures for accepting foreign currency, credit cards and cash in accordance with the hotel's credit policy
- Represent the hotel manager and other senior staff in their absence and take full responsibility for the hotel
- Manage, record and promptly resolve any problems or emergencies that arise
- Demonstrate up‑to‑date knowledge of hotel products, services, prices and policies, as well as knowledge of the surrounding area
- Act in accordance with all safety and emergency procedures and manage the initiation of these procedures if necessary
- Prepare an appropriate handover to the early shift staff/duty manager
- Attend relevant training courses as required and support the night team in their training and development activities
- Act in accordance with policies and procedures when working with front‑of‑house equipment and property management systems
- Conduct annual and half‑yearly appraisals with team members
- Carry out health and safety checks and nightly rounds, and maintain a good overview of all areas of the hotel
- Assist other departments as required
What are we looking for?
- Previous supervisory experience in Front Office within the hotel/leisure/retail.
- High level of IT proficiency.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Accountable and resilient.
- Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to respond to a variety of work situations.
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
It would be advantageous in this position to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
- Previous experience in the hotel industry.
- Previous experience with Front Office Management Systems.
- Previous experience with cash handling.
