Job summary

Clera in Munich, Germany, is building AI-powered software for freight and logistics. We seek an engineer to shape core architecture, own product development across the stack, and deploy AI capabilities to production.

You'll work with leadership to design scalable systems, benchmark models, and ship features end-to-end in a hands-on, autonomous role, contributing across the stack in a fast-growing logistics tech startup.

Qualifications

• 2 to 3 years of professional experience or relevant projects
• Strong full-stack engineering with backend product-building experience and cloud familiarity
• Fluency in Python; familiarity with Go is a plus
• Hands-on experience benchmarking, fine-tuning, and integrating AI/LLM systems in production
• Experience building robust production systems, engineering for scale, automating systems
• Strong spoken English, CS fundamentals, adaptability, and autonomous approach

About the Role

Join an early engineering team building AI-powered software for freight and logistics operations. You will shape core architecture, own product development across the stack, and put practical AI capabilities into production to help users work more efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain critical parts of the product, delivering reliable full-stack features.

• Evaluate, benchmark, and fine-tune AI systems to improve their accuracy and usefulness in a specialist domain.

• Experiment with new models, frameworks, and agent-based techniques, then ship and refine effective approaches using data and user feedback.

• Improve complex existing code, infrastructure, and automation to support scale and data-intensive workloads.

• Work closely with company leadership and teammates as a hands-on, high-ownership contributor.

What We're Looking For

• Typically 2 to 3 years of professional experience, or relevant projects and other evidence of ability.

• Strong full-stack engineering skills, with substantial backend product-building experience and confidence working across cloud environments.

• Fluency in Python; familiarity with Go is a plus.

• Hands-on experience benchmarking, fine-tuning, and integrating AI or LLM systems in production.

• Experience building robust production systems, engineering for scale, automating systems, and working with complex codebases.

• Strong spoken English, sound computer science fundamentals, adaptability, and an autonomous, results-oriented approach.

• Startup or entrepreneurial experience and interest in logistics technology are helpful.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: EUR 60,000 to EUR 90,000. Equity participation is available through options of up to 1%, with potential for additional grants. Visa sponsorship is not available.
