AI HealthTech Startup | Munich City Centre | €90,000 to €130,000 + Equity

We are partnering with an early-stage AI HealthTech company in Munich that is turning smartphones into screening devices - measuring 60+ biomarkers from face, voice, and eyes in under two minutes. No hardware. No friction. Just preventive healthcare in everyone's pocket.

The company is seed-backed, already generating meaningful ARR, and is now building its permanent internal team. After moving quickly with external support, they are hiring their first Founding Data Scientist to own the ML layer from day one.

This is a rare opportunity to shape both the science and the product at a company with genuine ambition, strong funding, and a mission that matters.

The Opportunity:

• As Founding Data Scientist, you will be the first dedicated data science hire and a core member of the founding team. You will own the machine learning stack end-to-end - from research and development through to production deployment - and directly shape how the product evolves.
• This is not a role for someone who wants to hand off to engineering. You will build, ship, and own real models that go in front of real users.

For the right person, this role has a clear path to Head of Data Science as the team scales.

What You Will Be Doing:

• You will design and deploy ML models that power customer-facing features - recommendation systems, biomarker estimation from video, audio, and text data, and signal processing across multimodal inputs.
• You will work on a unique digital twin dataset composed of voice recordings, face videos, eye images, digital biomarkers, blood biomarkers, and more - one of the richest multimodal health datasets being built anywhere.
• You will contribute to the next generation of Doctor AI: a reasoning engine that drafts safe, evidence-based medical protocols, and lay the groundwork for a conversational medical agent.
• You will work directly alongside the founding team and their ML Lead - a former ML Lead at Machine Medicine, ex-Lead Biostatistician at ICON, with publications in Nature and a successful FDA-approved AI algorithm - to set the technical direction for data science at the company.

What They Are Looking For:

• The ideal person has strong statistical and ML foundations and has built and shipped real models in a production environment. You are comfortable operating with ownership and ambiguity, and you treat "it's not my job" as a foreign concept.
• Strong Python skills are essential, alongside experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch), recommendation systems or signal processing, and a solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
• An MSc or PhD in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field is expected. Experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare or banking is a strong advantage. Research experience and scientific publications are a genuine plus.
• Most importantly, you care about impact. You want to do work that matters.

• This could suit someone coming from a healthtech, digital health, or biomedical AI background, or from a high-ownership startup or scaleup environment where pace and quality both matter.
• What matters most is that you are a builder - someone who gets genuinely excited about deploying models that change how people interact with their own health.
