Connect-AI in Munich is seeking a Founding AI Engineer & Data Scientist to help shape the technical direction of a healthtech platform that uses multimodal data to estimate digital biomarkers and guide health insights.

You will write production ML code, build scalable models in Python and PyTorch, define safety standards, work closely with the founders, and own a meaningful equity stake.

I’m partnering with an ambitious early-stage healthtech company building technology that could fundamentally change how people understand and manage their health.

The platform uses smartphone-based data—including facial video, voice and wider health signals to estimate digital biomarkers and build a richer picture of an individual’s wellbeing.

The next stage is even more ambitious: developing a safe, evidence-led Doctor AI capable of reasoning across multimodal health data and supporting personalised health recommendations.

They’re now looking for a Founding AI Engineer & Data Scientist to help shape the technical direction and build the core intelligence behind the product.

What you’ll be doing

• Researching and developing models across video, audio, health data and digital biomarkers
• Building production-ready ML systems using Python and PyTorch
• Exploring multimodal learning, signal processing and personalised recommendation approaches
• Developing agentic AI and evidence-grounded medical reasoning workflows
• Taking ideas from experimentation through to live product features
• Defining evaluation, monitoring and safety standardsWorking directly with the founders on product and technical strategy
• Helping establish the culture and best practices of the growing AI team

What they’re looking for

• Strong commercial experience building and deploying machine-learning systems
• Excellent Python and hands-on deep-learning experience
• Strong PyTorch knowledge
• Experience in at least one of the following:
• Computer vision or video modelling
• Signal processing or time-series modelling
• Recommendation or personalisation systems
• Healthcare, medical or biomarker-related ML
• Experience taking models beyond notebooks and into production
• Strong statistical and experimental foundations
• The ownership and pace required in an early-stage startup

Experience with LLMs, RAG, agentic systems, healthcare AI, physiological signals, medical imaging, audio or remote vital-sign measurement would be particularly valuable.

The environment

This is not a narrowly defined research role.

You’ll be expected to investigate difficult scientific problems, write production code, influence the roadmap and take responsibility for getting features into users’ hands.

The company is small, well-funded and highly ambitious. You’ll work closely with the founders, have genuine influence over the product and receive meaningful equity in return for helping build it.

You must be based in Munich or willing to relocate and work closely with the team onsite.
