Job summary

Defence UAS in Europe seeks a Nominated Postholder for Flight Operations & Safety in Germany to ensure safe, compliant drone trials across Europe.

You will report to the LBA, own the German operations manual, lead SORA assessments and oversee field recces and pre-flight risk reviews.

This role involves regular travel, relocation support and a generous package with equity and family leave as the business scales.

Qualifications

• Fluent German and NATO nationality are essential.
• Experience with LBA or another national aviation authority.
• Hands-on SORA and flight safety/compliance experience.
• Defence or military aviation background is a plus.

A fast-growing European defence technology company needs the person accountable to the LBA for its drone flight operations in Germany. They fly often, they move fast, and they want someone who keeps it safe and legal without slowing it down.

What you’ll do

• Act as nominated postholder to the LBA, alongside the Accountable Manager
• Own the German operations manual, operational authorisation and SORA assessments
• Lead site recces, pre-flight risk assessments and field oversight of trials
• Investigate safety events, handle occurrence reporting and run compliance monitoring
• Train crews and maintain competency records

What you’ll need

• Fluent German and nationality of a NATO member state (both essential)
• Working knowledge of EASA 2019/947 and 2019/945
• Direct experience with the LBA or another national aviation authority
• Hands-on SORA and flight safety or compliance experience
• Defence, military aviation or start-up background is a plus
