Dartmouth Partners is working with a growing Private equity firm to find a Financial Controller for their Frankfurt office.

As Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the firm and its investment entities. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the Finance Director, with responsibility for financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and supporting the firm’s investment and portfolio activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all financial accounting and reporting for the management company and investment vehicles.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements, management accounts, and investor reporting packs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g. IFRS/UK GAAP) and tax regulations.
• Manage fund-level accounting, including capital calls, distributions, and fee calculations.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and fund administrators.
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity across entities, including forecasting and treasury management.
• Improve financial controls, systems, and processes to support scale and efficiency.
• Provide financial input on deal structuring and portfolio company performance tracking.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for both the firm and funds.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), ideally Big 4 trained.
• 5+ years of post-qualification experience, with at least 2–3 years in a fund or PE environment.
• Strong technical accounting and fund reporting skills.
• Hands-on and proactive with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience managing small teams and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of fund structures, carried interest, and investor reporting.
• Commercially minded and comfortable in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial setting.
