Thorit is the AI & CRM consultancy for the agent-native enterprise actively optimizing its finance operations. You will own day-to-day bookkeeping, including AP/AR and GL, and you’ll build scalable, documented close processes in collaboration with our external tax advisor.

The role demands hands-on bookkeeping expertise in German standards, fluency in DATEV, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a modern, structured finance function.

Qualifikationen

• Several years of hands-on experience in German financial bookkeeping (Finanzbuchhaltung).
• Working fluency in DATEV.
• Solid general knowledge of German commercial and tax law as it applies to bookkeeping.
• Comfort working independently and building structure without close day-to-day supervision.
• Native-level German and working business English.

Aufgaben

• Own accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger bookkeeping, including bank reconciliation.
• Build a documented, repeatable monthly close process where none exists today.
• Clean up aged debtor and creditor items and keep OPOS lists current.
• Prepare and submit monthly Umsatzsteuervoranmeldungen accurately and on time.
• Support the annual financial statements in direct collaboration with our external Steuerberater.
• Handle travel expenses for the team.
• Document Finance SOPs in Confluence so processes outlive any one person.

About the Role

You'll be the person who brings order to Thorit's day-to-day bookkeeping — owning accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger end-to-end and building the processes that let the company scale cleanly. This is a hands-on, high-trust role: you'll work closely with our external tax advisor and take real ownership of how bookkeeping runs.

• Own accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger bookkeeping, including bank reconciliation

• Build a documented, repeatable monthly close process where none exists today

• Clean up aged debtor and creditor items and keep OPOS lists current

• Prepare and submit monthly advance sales tax returns (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldungen) accurately and on time

• Support the annual financial statements in direct collaboration with our external Steuerberater

• Handle travel expenses for the team

• Document Finance SOPs in Confluence so processes outlive any one person

What You Bring

Must-haves

• Several years of hands-on experience in German financial bookkeeping (Finanzbuchhaltung)

• Working fluency in DATEV

• Solid general knowledge of German commercial and tax law as it applies to bookkeeping

• Native-level German and working business English

Nice-to-haves

• Payroll experience (Lohn- und Gehaltsabrechnung) and knowledge of DEÜV/ELStAM/DATEV Lohn + Gehalt — a plus if payroll is ever brought in-house, but not required since it currently runs externally

• Experience supporting the annual financial statement alongside an external tax advisor

• Prior experience in a scaling company or consultancy environment

Your Team

You'll report directly to our CEO and will be part of the Business Functions that runs Thorit internally, separate from our client-facing Practices.

Tech Stack

DATEV (Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen, Zahlungsverkehr, with Lohn + Gehalt as a plus), Confluence, Forecast.it, Claude AI, and HubSpot for internal operations context.
