Job summary

deeploi is looking for an experienced Finance Lead to build and own the finance function. You will report to the CEO and take end-to-end ownership of planning, controlling, customer billing and investor reporting while bringing finance in-house from external CFO services.

You will coordinate accounting, work with Product and Engineering on billing logic, automate Stripe workflows, and support investor reporting during a period of transition.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in financial controlling, FP&A or equivalent finance role, ideally ~2 years in startup finance.
• Strong skills in planning, modelling, budgeting, cash-flow forecasting and scenario analysis.
• Practical understanding of customer billing and reconciliation; deep accounting not required.
• Able to own finance end-to-end as the most senior finance professional and drive process improvement.
• High diligence and numerical accuracy in planning, reporting and operations.
• Clear, approachable communication translating finance/tech to business impact.
• Comfortable in a transitioning company with broad scope.
• Nice to have Stripe/Retool/BI tools experience; degree in finance or related field.
• Fluent German (C1+) and good English; office-first culture requiring 3 days in the office.

Your mission

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Finance Lead to build and own the finance function at deeploi.
With a proven product, more than 200 customers and a growing SaaS offering, we are focused on sustainable growth and a clear path to profitability. Reporting directly to the CEO, you take end-to-end ownership of finance, from planning and controlling to customer billing and investor reporting.
Today, our finance tasks are spread across internal stakeholders and external partners. You bring them in-house and build the structures we need for our next chapter.
Your Responsibilities

• Own planning & controlling: Take ownership of our business plan, financial models, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and scenario analyses, and keep them up to date with monthly closing data.
• Steer performance: Create clear visibility on how we perform against our targets, flag risks and deviations early and turn numbers into decisions.
• Own customer billing: Make sure every invoice is complete, accurate and on time, and reconcile usage data, billing metrics and charges.
• Automate with Product & Engineering: Work with Product and Engineering on billing logic and data discrepancies, automate our billing workflows around Stripe and translate technical issues into business implications.
• Bring finance in-house: Take over planning and reporting from our external CFO-as-a-service provider and continuously improve our finance processes and reporting structures.
• Coordinate accounting & investor reporting: Own preparatory bookkeeping and the collaboration with our external tax advisor, prepare quarterly investor reports and support adjacent legal and administrative topics where needed.

Your profile

• 4 to 5+ years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A or a comparable finance role, ideally with around two years in an established startup finance team.
• Strong skills in business planning, financial modelling, budgeting, cash-flow forecasting and scenario analysis.
• Practical understanding of customer billing, reconciliation and preparatory bookkeeping. Deep accounting specialization is not required.
• Ready to own finance end to end as our most senior finance professional: you work independently, prioritize well and improve processes pragmatically.
• High diligence and numerical accuracy across planning, reporting and operational finance.
• Clear, approachable communication: you translate financial and technical complexity into business implications and work closely with the CEO, Product, Engineering and external advisors.
• Comfortable in a company in transition, with evolving priorities and a broad scope.
• Nice to have: experience with Stripe, Retool, usage-based billing or BI tools, and a degree in finance, business or a related field.
• Fluent German (C1 or higher) and good English. We have an office first culture and you are ready to be in the office at least three days a week.
