Job summary

Graswald GmbH is seeking a hands-on, generalist finance leader to build and own the finance function from scratch. You will manage FP&A, billing, payroll, and liaise with German tax advisers, driving financial visibility and strategic decision-making as the company scales.

You will work directly with the CEO and department leads to translate company strategy into numbers and drive resource allocation, pricing, and governance across Tax, Accounting and Compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in FP&A, finance management, or a similar broad finance role.
• Solid working knowledge of German tax and finance regulations (HGB, VAT/Umsatzsteuer) and payroll compliance.
• Hands-on experience with billing/invoicing and payroll, not just budgeting and reporting.
• Strong financial modeling and Excel/Sheets skills; comfort building projections and budgets from scratch.
• Fluent in German and professional working proficiency in English.
• Bonus: startup finance/payroll tooling and fundraising or investor reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Own FP&A, budgeting, and commercial goals; build annual and rolling financial projections and track variance.
• Lead end-to-end billing and invoicing, manage cash flow, and optimize billing systems as the company scales.
• Run payroll and support compensation planning, ensuring compliance with German and international law.
• Coordinate with external tax advisors on German tax returns, VAT filings, and statutory financial statements; ensure HGB compliance.
• Build scalable finance processes, tools, and systems; advise leadership on pricing and resource allocation.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership team to translate strategy into financial plans.
