Jobbeschreibung

Modern materials science, semiconductor manufacturing, and pharmaceutical research all depend on being able to \"see\" the invisible — the atomic structure of a crystal, the composition of a thin film, the purity of a compound. The instruments that make this possible are among the most precise pieces of engineering in the world, and keeping them running at customer sites is a specialist discipline in its own right.

Our client design and manufacture high-precision analytical instruments (X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, and related technologies) used by leading semiconductor manufacturers, research institutions, and industrial laboratories across Europe. Their customers rely on this equipment for mission-critical quality control and R&D — when it goes down, production or research stops. That's where you come in.

The EMEA field service team is growing to keep pace with an expanding customer base, particularly in Germany, where their footprint includes strategic industrial sites, and beyond into Southern Europe. This is a newly available seat on an established, well-resourced 24-person team, not a one-person outpost.

You won't just be swapping parts. You'll be the trusted technical face of the company for customers who depend on equipment most engineers have never even seen — installing new systems, diagnosing faults that mix electronics, mechanics, and software, and training customers to get the most out of their instruments. You'll work independently in the field, but you're backed by a real team: a structured buddy-based onboarding program, first-line colleagues across Germany, the UK, Spain, and Poland, and second-line specialists in the US and Japan when a problem needs deeper expertise.

The difference versus a typical field service role: this is high-precision, high-value scientific equipment, not commodity hardware — the technical bar is higher, the customer relationships are deeper, and the learning curve never really flattens.

We're looking for someone genuinely curious about how complex systems work — someone who enjoys the puzzle of a fault that isn't obvious, and who takes pride in explaining a fix clearly rather than just performing it. Autonomy suits you: you'll often be the only company representative on-site, so you need the confidence to make decisions and the humility to call in support when a problem exceeds your tools. Comfort with a heavy travel rhythm is essential; this role suits someone who genuinely enjoys being on the move rather than tolerating it.

This Role Is for You If...
  • You have hands-on experience with X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), or single-crystal analysis equipment - this is essential.
  • You come from an electrical or chemistry background, ideally with recent experience in semiconductor environments or at a high end analytical instrumentation company.
  • You're comfortable in clean room environments and confident reading schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • You want to keep learning: our training program includes structured onboarding with an experienced buddy, plus opportunities to train
  • You're based within an hour of a major international airport — central Germany is ideal given our site network, but we're genuinely open on exact location for the right person.
  • You hold a full, clean driving licence and have the right to work in Germany without restriction.

In return, we commit to: a genuine team environment (not a lone-wolf setup) with structured mentorship from day one; investment in your technical development, including international training; and the autonomy to manage your own territory once you're up to speed.

  • Atmosphere, Salary & Benefits
  • Company car or car allowance, laptop, and phone
  • 10% discretionary bonus after probation
  • Full listed-company benefits package, including health insurance
  • A 24-person European field service team with structured first- and second-line support
