Field Application Scientist – South West Germany
An established life sciences company specializing in high-sensitivity immunoassay platforms is seeking a Field Application Scientist to support its growing customer base across South West Germany. The role combines scientific expertise, customer training, and technical support, working with a portfolio that includes advanced multiplex and immunoassay technologies used in fields such as inflammation, oncology, metabolic disorders, neuroscience, and toxicology.
Key Responsibilities
- Educate, train, and support customers on the company’s immunoassay and analytical instrumentation portfolio, including data acquisition and interpretation.
- Deliver hands‑on training for users of ELISA‑style and multiplex assays, associated instruments, and software tools.
- Provide expert troubleshooting and optimization support for customer assays, including both standard and custom‑developed formats.
- Collaborate with research partners and customers developing bespoke immunoassays for diverse applications (e.g., PK, immunogenicity, inflammation, oncology, neuroscience).
- Support field‑based scientific evaluations, seminars, and workshops to showcase technology capabilities.
- Work closely with account managers to identify opportunities, assist in pre‑ and post‑sales activities, and drive adoption of the platform across academic, biotech, and pharma accounts.
- Attend key conferences and scientific meetings, representing the company’s scientific expertise and providing market feedback.
- Document activities, customer interactions, and technical insights in CRM systems.
- Travel approximately 40–60%, typically spending up to four days per week in the field with customers.
Qualifications & Experience
- M.Sc. in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related discipline (Ph.D. preferred).
- 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in a molecular biology, immunology, or biochemistry lab (research or clinical environment).
- Prior experience in a field applications or scientific support role is highly desirable.
- Strong background in immunoassay principles (ELISA, multiplex, or similar platforms) and their application across multiple research areas.
- Proven ability to independently troubleshoot, optimize, and validate assay performance.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, marketing, and technical teams.
- Experience with CRM systems (such as Salesforce) preferred.
