Executive Director - Head of Regulatory Projects - Finance (gn)

For our client, a leading global universal bank with its European headquarters in Frankfurt, we are currently looking for an Executive Director - Head of Regulatory Projects - Finance (gn) to strengthen the Team.

Purpose of job

The position is responsible for guiding the strategic development of the Finance & Control function for growing regulatory demands. The focus is on enhancing Finance capabilities to meet both internal and external requirements, ensuring reliable monitoring and communication of financial performance, and embedding Finance considerations into decision‑making at both entity and group level.

Tasks

• Provide overall strategic direction to the Finance team and ensure that all readiness initiatives across Finance functions are executed effectively and responsibilities are met.
• Oversee Finance activities to guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements, implement processes aligned with market best practices, and manage risks or limitations efficiently.
• Track and support Finance sub‑teams to ensure that strategic goals are on track, appropriately prioritized, and properly risk‑assessed.
• Support the Head of Finance in rolling out the Target Operating Model, including onboarding and training staff, developing talent, supervising branches and subsidiaries, managing outsourcing, promoting regional collaboration, and setting up centers of excellence.
• Chair the Finance Committee, ensuring robust governance frameworks and transparent reporting of financial matters to senior leadership.
• Strengthen governance and oversight processes throughout the Finance function at both individual entity and group levels.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience in finance or risk roles within the banking industry, preferably with exposure to investment banking or universal banking.
• Master’s degree required; professional qualifications are advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to grasp complex issues, question assumptions, and communicate findings clearly and effectively.
• Deep understanding of financial products, investment banking operations, accounting principles, financial reporting standards (IFRS, HGB), and regulatory requirements.
• Full professional proficiency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
