Job summary

Trust in SODA is seeking an Engineering Team Lead to build and lead a Finance Automation team within a large‑scale B2B platform. You’ll shape architecture, hire and develop the team, and stay hands‑on by coding in Kotlin while collaborating with Finance and Product.

You’ll drive reconciliation, financial data processing and accounting workflows, foster AI‑assisted development practices, and own the microservices you build. This is a hybrid Hamburg role with autonomy and ownership.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing software engineering teams.
• Hands-on engineering background and staying close to code.
• Excellent knowledge of Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Strong SQL skills and PostgreSQL experience.
• Experience building and operating microservices on Kubernetes.
• "You build it, you run it" mindset and production systems responsibility.

Engineering Team Lead – Finance Automation / Kotlin / AI

What if your next Team Lead role gave you the freedom to build the team, shape the architecture, stay hands‑on with Kotlin and work on a completely new platform domain?

Our client is looking for an experienced Engineering Team Lead to build and lead a new Finance Automation team within a large‑scale B2B platform. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the technical direction from day one, hire and develop your team, work directly with Finance and Product, and still write code yourself.

The challenge is genuinely interesting: how do you turn complex financial and accounting processes into reliable, scalable and highly automated software?

You’ll work on areas such as reconciliation, financial data processing and accounting workflows — where data quality, reliability and auditability really matter. At the same time, you’ll help introduce modern AI‑assisted engineering practices and explore how agentic AI can be used within the platform itself.

For you, that means plenty of room to make decisions, influence architecture and build something new rather than simply maintaining an existing system.

Your role

• Lead and develop a product‑focused engineering team, initially consisting of two engineers
• Build a new Finance Automation domain within the company's core B2B platform
• Partner closely with Finance and Product to turn business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Drive the automation of reconciliation, accounting workflows and financial data processing
• Shape the architecture and make key technical decisions together with your team
• Stay hands‑on by writing Kotlin code, reviewing designs and solving complex technical problems
• Own and operate your team's microservices following a true “You build it, you run it” approach
• Build secure, reliable and auditable systems for finance‑critical data
• Introduce AI‑assisted development practices and explore practical applications of agentic AI

Your profile

• Experience leading and developing software engineering teams
• A strong hands‑on engineering background and a genuine interest in staying close to the code
• Excellent knowledge of Kotlin and Spring Boot
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL
• Experience building and operating microservices on Kubernetes
• A “You build it, you run it” mindset and experience operating production systems
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with Product, Finance and other engineering teams

You’ll help decide what gets built, how it gets built and how the team grows.
