Zenjob is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Supply engineering team responsible for the talent side of our marketplace. You will manage 5-7 engineers, stay hands-on for architecture decisions, and partner with Product to shape the roadmap.

You will coach across levels, drive delivery, and sustain high standards while collaborating with stakeholders across the company. Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Supply engineering team - the team that owns the talent side of our marketplace. Your team of 5-7 engineers builds the experience our Zenjobbers use to discover, book, and get paid for jobs, and the services that keep the supply side of the marketplace healthy
• You’ll partner closely with your product counterpart. This is a player-coach role: we’re looking for someone who leads through people but stays close enough to the code to guide architecture decisions, unblock the team, and keep the technical bar high
• Lead, coach, and grow a cross-functional team of full-stack engineers - owning their development, engagement, and performance
• Own delivery for the Supply domain: shape the roadmap with your product partner, break down complex initiatives, and ensure the team ships predictably and with quality
• Engage deeply with the product: question assumptions, challenge proposals, and bring ideas of your own - constructively, and always with the business impact in mind
• Embrace how AI keeps reshaping engineering as a craft: advocate for the increased autonomy these tools bring, and support your team by role-modelling their usage
• Stay hands-on: guide system design and architecture decisions, review code where it matters, and contribute when it accelerates the team
• Drive operational excellence - monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement of the team’s engineering practices
• Hire and onboard engineers as the team evolves, and contribute to engineering-wide initiatives beyond your team
• Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and stakeholders across Product, Operations, and Marketing to align the supply side of the marketplace with company goals

Requirements

Several years of experience leading software engineers as a people manager, ideally in a product-led B2C or marketplace environmentA strong technical foundation: you’ve worked as a senior engineer yourself and can still credibly engage on architecture, code, and technical trade-offsFluent English (our company language); German is a plusPragmatism in balancing delivery speed, quality, and maintainabilityA product mindset: you care about outcomes over output and know how to connect engineering work to user and business impactExperience growing engineers across levels - coaching, feedback, and performance management hold no secrets for youComfort with our stack: we build in TypeScript across both backend and frontend, with some older services still in Java and Groovy
