As our Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the team steering AI-powered experiences at Humanoo (now part of Telus Health).

You’ll guide work on features like burnout prediction, real-time nudges, and LLM copilots - all privacy-first, opt-in, and carefully reviewed for ethical impact. Across both mobile and web.

It’s modern, modular tech. It’s about making wellbeing feel essential. And it needs someone like you at the helm.

Hybrid: 3 days per week in the office

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • Experience leading engineering teams (of at least 5 people) in a cross‑functional, agile environment
  • Strong expertise in our backend tech stack (especially Java), in driving architectural reviews and in cross‑team changes
  • A strong product engineering skillset, with a customer‑focused mindset
  • Strong collaboration, communication and stakeholder management skills in English
  • Practical experience building or integrating ML/AI‑powered features
  • A drive for quality, speed, and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with real‑time event systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub), REST APIs, and containerised deployments
  • Understanding of privacy‑conscious product design and the GDPR
INTERVIEW PROCESS
  • Your first interview: A call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team
  • Your second interview: A focus on your system design skills, with a Miro whiteboarding session
  • Your third interview: A focus on leadership skills, with our Head of People
  • Your final interview: An on‑site interview with our CPO and co‑CEO
HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME:
  • Lead a team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers working on AI features like nudges, burnout prediction and personalised wellbeing journeys for our users
  • You’ll collaborate closely with our Data Team, and use their data infrastructure, data pipelines and LLMs to create features for both our mobile app, Humanoo, and our client‑facing app, HealthOS
  • Ensure delivery excellence, team health, and a sustainable pace
  • Coach and support engineers in their career development
  • Drive our Product and Engineering strategy forward together with Product, Data & AI, Design, and Engagement teams to deliver impactful, privacy‑safe AI features
  • Provide technical leadership in scalable architecture, modularisation, and real‑time data integration

Please note: our offices close over the Christmas and New Year period for approximately two weeks. We gift the 24th and 31st December as extra vacation days and any additional non‑public holiday days during this time will be taken from your annual leave.
