Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is seeking an Engineering Leader to oversee the engineering delivery of major HVDC projects. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate technical interfaces and ensure engineering activities meet customer specifications, project budgets and delivery milestones.

Qualifications

• Significant engineering experience on HVDC converter stations or comparable projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating international delivery.
• Strong understanding of HVDC technology and interfaces between primary equipment, control and protection, and auxiliary systems.
• Experience managing engineering budgets, schedules, risks and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering delivery across the project lifecycle from requirements and design through manufacturing support, installation and commissioning.
• Coordinate engineering disciplines covering HVDC systems, primary plant, converter equipment, control and protection, and auxiliary systems.
• Act as the principal engineering contact for customers and internal project stakeholders.
• Own engineering resource plans, budgets, deliverables and schedules alongside the Project Manager.
• Manage technical interfaces between converter stations, AC networks, equipment suppliers and civil engineering teams.
• Oversee design reviews, technical risk management and compliance with contractual requirements and standards.
• Support factory and site testing, resolving engineering issues through to handover.
• Develop engineering capability through mentoring, recruitment and continuous improvement.

• Lead engineering delivery across the project lifecycle, from requirements and design through manufacturing support, installation and commissioning.
• Coordinate engineering disciplines covering HVDC systems, primary plant, converter equipment, control and protection, and auxiliary systems.
• Act as the principal engineering contact for customers, and internal project stakeholders.
• Own engineering resource plans, budgets, deliverables and schedules alongside the Project Manager.
• Manage technical interfaces between converter stations, AC networks, equipment suppliers and civil engineering teams.
• Oversee design reviews, technical risk management and compliance with contractual requirements and applicable standards.
• Support factory and site testing, resolving engineering issues through to project handover.
• Develop engineering capability through mentoring, recruitment and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Significant engineering experience on HVDC converter station or comparable complex power transmission projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating international project delivery.
• Strong understanding of HVDC technology, preferably VSC, and the interfaces between primary equipment, control and protection, and auxiliary systems.
• Experience managing engineering budgets, schedules, technical risks and customer relationships.
• Familiarity with relevant IEC standards and European transmission network requirements.
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Willingness to travel to customer offices, suppliers and project sites.
