About the Role
EB Contracts is seeking an experienced Energy Controlling Manager / Energy Marshall to support a major data centre construction project in Düsseldorf. This senior site-based role is responsible for ensuring full compliance, coordination, and assurance across all aspects of Energy Isolation (EI) during construction, commissioning, and energisation activities. Candidates are expected to provide their CV in English.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting senior project leadership in the delivery of project objectives.
- Providing Energy Isolation management, assurance, and coordination across the construction project.
- Supporting the planning and coordination of EI activities associated with construction, commissioning, energisation, and handover.
- Implementing consistent EI processes and driving rigorous compliance across the site.
- Overseeing and assuring that vendors, subcontractors, and site teams comply with the overall EI programme.
- Ensuring contractor EI procedures meet or exceed project safety and compliance requirements.
- Establishing and managing an EI assurance process, including audits, inspections, gap analysis, and close-out actions.
- Organising and supporting high-risk activity planning meetings, including those associated with EI, switching, commissioning, and energisation.
- Ensuring a formal approval process is in place for all proposed EI procedures.
- Identifying potential EI risks and impacts on data centre core operations.
- Acting as an independent authority with the ability to stop unsafe work practices relating to EI.
- Preparing the EI programme plan at the commencement of EI activities and maintaining updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Preparing EI assurance documentation, including audit records, inspection findings, deficiencies, corrective actions, and best‑practice observations.
- Producing monthly EI reports covering programme status, site activities, risks, trends, and compliance performance.
- Escalating project risks, technical concerns, safety issues, or delivery constraints to senior management promptly.
- Promoting a strong safety culture across all electrical and energy isolation activities.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mission‑critical construction environments, particularly within data centres or similarly complex electrical infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in MV and LV switching, energy isolation, commissioning, and energisation activities.
- Previous experience working on data centre construction or commissioning projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, site energisation processes, and controlled switching environments.
- Proven ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to audit site practices against written standards, procedures, and assurance frameworks.
- Strong technical ability to interpret line drawings, single‑line diagrams, system redundancies, and electrical distribution arrangements.
- Familiarity with multiple energy sources within data centre environments, with particular emphasis on electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Methodical, structured, and detail‑focused approach to work.
- Strong leadership presence with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices.
- Proficiency in English is essential.
- German language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
- Must be eligible to work in Germany.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; or equivalent approved electrical qualifications, trade background, authorisations, or demonstrable senior‑level experience in MV/LV systems, energy isolation, commissioning, or electrical safety management.
Compensation
Package: Circa €250,000 per annum, all found. Site‑based role in Düsseldorf, Germany.
