Mercor is seeking a Specialty Materials Chemist to write prompts in energetic materials and propulsion, evaluate model responses, and develop reference answers. This remote contract role emphasizes independent work and safety-focused analysis.

You will collaborate with practitioners to define boundaries between routine and dangerous questions, ensuring accurate and well-reasoned outputs while working asynchronously from a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Experience writing prompts in energetic materials and propulsion contexts.
• Ability to assess model outputs against a policy standard.
• Prior technical writing, published work, or expert witness experience.

Position: Specialty Materials Chemist — Pyrotechnics or Propulsion

Type: Contract

Compensation: $65–$75/hour

Location: Remote

• Prior technical writing, published research, or expert witness experience.

Preferred

• Red-teaming experience in the field of energetic materials.
