Job summary

Intelligente Sensorsysteme Dresden GmbH (i2s) sucht eine/n Director of Engineering (m/w/d) zur Führung der globalen Ingenieurorganisation über vier internationale Standorte. Sie steigern Innovationsgeschwindigkeit und beschleunigen Konzept- zu Markteinführung.

Qualifications

• Abgeschlossenes Ingenieurstudium oder gleichwertige Qualifikation.
• Mehrjährige Ingenieurserfahrung, inkl. Leitung mehrerer Standorte.
• Nachweislicher Erfolg bei Markteinführungen neuer Produkte und NPIs.
• Tiefes technisches Verständnis in Sensor-/Transducer-Entwicklung; Patente von Vorteil.
• Erfahrung in Design-to-Cost und Kostenreduktion.
• Erfahrung in Automotive OEM/Tier 1; Kenntnisse in HVAC/Building Controls oder Batteriespeichern vorteilhaft.
• Innovative, entschlossene Führungspersönlichkeit mit wirtschaftlichem Verständnis.
• Verhandlungssichere Englischkenntnisse und Reisebereitschaft international (bis zu 40%).

Responsibilities

• Leitung der globalen Engineering-Organisation über vier Standorte hinweg.
• Beschleunigung von Innovation, schnellere Markteinführung von Konzepten.
• Entwicklung und Durchsetzung von Produktkonzepten, Erweiterung in angrenzende Märkte.
• Vorantreiben von angewandter Forschung und Plattformentwicklung (NDIR CO₂, H₂‑Nachweis, kapazitive Feuchtigkeitssensorik).
• Verantwortung für Technologie- und Co-Ownership der Produkt-Roadmap.
• Sicherstellung von NPIs termingerecht, kostenbewusst und gemäß Spezifikation.
• Aufbau eines leistungsfähigen Engineering-Bench mit Entwicklung künftiger Führungskräfte.

Director of Engineering (m/f/d)

• Hands-on senior leadership role reporting directly to the General Manager, leading the global engineering organization across four international sites
• Raise the pace and quality of innovation and significantly shorten the time from concept to launch
• Generate and champion new product concepts that open adjacent markets, with fresh thinking beyond incremental improvements
• Drive applied research and platform development in NDIR CO₂, H₂ detection and capacitive humidity sensing, including the associated electronics and firmware
• Own the technology roadmap and co‑own the product roadmap
• Deliver NPI on schedule, on cost and to specification, with design-to-cost from the concept stage
• Build a strong engineering bench and develop future leaders

Profil

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field; an advanced degree is beneficial
• Many years of engineering experience, including several years leading multi‑site teams
• Proven success in launching new products, with structured NPI / stage‑gate experience
• Deep technical background in sensor or transducer development; issued patents are a plus
• Experience in design‑to‑cost and cost reduction
• Automotive OEM / Tier 1 experience; ASPICE knowledge and experience in HVAC / building controls or battery energy storage are advantageous
• Innovative, decisive and technically credible leader with a commercial mindset
• Fluent English and willingness to travel internationally (up to 40 %)
