Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking Direct Support Professional II to support adults with developmental and cognitive differences in a versatile, fast-paced setting. The role offers part-time or full-time schedules, a minimum of 40 hours of paid training, and competitive pay including a $1 differential for overnight shifts.

Qualifikationen

  • One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults is required
  • Must be willing to work with adults who may exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behaviors
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 1 within first 6 months of employment
  • Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 2 within 12 months of employment
  • First Aid and CPR certification required
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • One weekend shift per week required
  • For part time, available for a minimum of 3 shifts per week (24hrs)

Being a Direct Support Professional II has its Advantages!

We Offer:

  • Part-Time or Full-Time schedules (minimum requirement of three (8) eight hour shifts per week; must be able to work one weekend shift per week)
  • Different shifts to fit your needs: 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am

Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional II include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviors

Devereux is one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country. Nestled near the beaches between the Pacific Coast and Santa Ynez mountains, Devereux California is a therapeutic behavioral health treatment facility offering residential and community living services, clinical services, and a vocational day program for adults with multiple diagnoses, including autistic spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia, and other cognitive disorders.

Somerset is a five-bed adult residential facility in a community-based setting. This home serves individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who also have moderate to severe behavioral challenges and/or significant deficits in adaptive skills. Somerset aims to prepare individuals to become productive, socially-connected members of their local communities.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, or adults required
  • Must be willing to work with adults who may exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behaviors
  • Must be willing to provide hygiene care to adults served (males and females)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 1 within first 6-months of employment (Devereux will assist)
  • Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 2 within 12-months of employment. If employee is already DSP 1 certified upon hire, then DSP 2 certification must be obtained within the first 6-months of employment (Devereux will assist)
  • First Aid and CPR certification required (can complete with Devereux after hire)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

The IDEAL candidate will be... empathetic, a team player, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, understand the theories of behavior management, utilize positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model.

Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eye-wear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.

Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwardof 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
