Job summary

ZEISS is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design professional to develop and engineer production equipment for optical components in a demanding manufacturing environment. You will lead design work from concept to handover, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to meet precise process requirements.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, Creo CAD, and ERP/PLM systems, along with German at C1 and English at B2.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field.
• Several years of experience in developing and designing equipment, production equipment or automation solutions.
• Several years of practical experience with a 3D CAD system, preferably Creo.
• Several years of experience with an ERP or PLM system, preferably SAP.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and materials engineering, along with experience working with suppliers.
• German language skills at C1 level and English language skills at a minimum of B2 level.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and mechatronic production equipment for manufacturing, machining, coating, cleaning and handling optical components.
• Design clamping fixtures, transport and handling solutions, as well as components for the precise positioning and covering of optics.
• Gradually take technical responsibility for development work packages, from requirements management through to handover to manufacturing.
• Develop concepts, technical specifications and requirements documents for new manufacturing processes and complete production equipment sets.
• Optimise and modify existing production equipment in response to new process and product requirements.
• Evaluate technical solutions in terms of functionality, quality, cost and feasibility.
• Manage and coordinate external development partners and suppliers throughout the development process.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Process Development, Procurement and conformity-related functions.
