Design Approvers (Airbus Electrical Systems Installation – A320/SA) | Remote with Occasional Travel to Hamburg
I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading aerospace engineering client for experienced Design Approvers to support Airbus Electrical Systems Installation (ESI) projects for the A320 Single Aisle (SA) programme. This is a remote-based role with occasional travel to Hamburg, offering you the opportunity to contribute directly to the quality and compliance of critical aircraft systems.

About The Role
This is a pivotal design signatory role focused on ATA92 and related sub-ATAs within the A320/SA programme. You'll play a hands‑on part in ensuring regulatory compliance, engineering integrity, and continuous process improvement across the ESI perimeter.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing A1020 approver‑level signatures for design deliverables (DWG/DD) within ATA92 and related systems
- Conducting design quality checks, including 3D design reviews, drawing validations, and configuration control
- Acting as a key interface for resolving technical queries raised by engineering and quality teams
- Ensuring alignment between the Configured DMU and the overall design intent
- Supporting the creation and validation of RDRs and DQNs, and ensuring compliance with Airbus check processes (QC0, QC1, QC2)
- Providing guidance on bracket design proposals, installation routes, and weight‑saving initiatives
- Contributing to harness installation drawings, harness migration to CATIA V5, and support tool usage (CIRCE‑I, CAPITAL, COBOT, CORELEC, etc.)
- Liaising cross‑functionally with teams in Airframe, Cabin, Systems, Industrialisation, and Standardisation
- Supporting audits and documentation to ensure compliance with DOA, EASA Part 21J, and safety reporting standards
- Playing an active role in continuous improvement initiatives – including process automation, digitalisation, and standardisation efforts
- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, contributing to skill development and knowledge management
- Collaborating with offshore/onsite teams in a global delivery model
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's in Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
- 8–12 years’ experience in Airbus Electrical System Installation
- DOA signatory experience in ATA928/929 or ATA923–925
- Hands‑on knowledge of Airbus design tools (Catia V5, VPM, CAPITAL, COBOT, CIRCE, SAP, etc.)
- Solid understanding of configuration management, functional electrics, and installation concepts
- Comfortable working across different Airbus programmes, with A320/SA essential
- Familiarity with EASA Part 21J, airworthiness, and safety categorisation
- Strong interpersonal and decision‑making skills, especially under pressure
Desirable
- Experience with A330, A350, or A380 programmes
- Involvement in digital transformation or tooling optimisation
- Familiarity with offshore/onsite collaboration models
