Job summary

Middle Point is seeking an experienced Deputy Program Manager (m/f/d) for a challenging naval project in Lower Saxony, Germany. You will work closely with the Program Manager to support both operational and strategic management, ensuring milestones, budgets and quality targets are met.

Requirements include a degree in a technical or business field, several years in shipbuilding or related program/operations management, and fluent German and English. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Several years of professional experience in shipbuilding and in project/program/operations management.
• Strong understanding of complex shipbuilding projects and organizational aspects.
• Fluent German and English; able to communicate in negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Support and deputize for the Program Manager in operational and strategic management of a complex naval project.
• Take responsibility for defined areas of the project with respect to schedule, costs, quality and risks.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, production, procurement and quality.
• Monitor priorities, resources and milestones and manage interfaces with customer orgs and authorities.
• Contribute to risk, change and contract management and prepare key management meetings.

For our client, a renowned company in the German shipbuilding industry, we are looking for an experienced Deputy Program Manager (m/f/d) for a challenging naval project in Lower Saxony, Germany. In this responsible position, you will work closely with the Program Manager and support the operational and strategic management of a complex naval project.

Tasks

• Supporting and deputizing for the Program Manager in the operational and strategic management of a complex naval project
• Independently taking responsibility for specific areas of the project and ensuring that objectives are met in terms of schedule, costs, quality, and risks
• Coordinating multidisciplinary teams across engineering, production, procurement, and quality
• Managing and monitoring project priorities, resources, and milestones
• Managing interfaces with German Armed Forces customer organizations (e.g. BAAINBw, German Navy), classification societies, regulatory authorities, and internal committees
• Contributing to risk, change, and contract management
• Preparing and facilitating key meetings and decision-making processes at management level

German language skills at C1 level or above are essential for this role.

• A completed degree in a technical or business-related field, or an equivalent qualification
• Several years of professional experience in shipbuilding, as well as in project, program, or operations management
• Solid understanding of complex shipbuilding projects and their technical and organizational aspects
• Ideally, experience in naval shipbuilding or the defense industry
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working with various stakeholders
• Strong sense of responsibility, excellent organizational skills, and a confident, professional manner
• Fluent German and English, including the ability to communicate effectively in negotiations
• Willingness to travel occasionally for business
