Job summary

TÜV SÜD Group is seeking a data science professional to design and build cross‑domain AI solutions, including LLM-powered systems, in a collaborative, agile environment in Germany. You will work with data scientists and software engineers to deliver end‑to‑end projects that improve safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Successfully completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
• At least 4 years of practical experience applying data science methods in a corporate or consulting environment
• In-depth expertise in modern AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), generative AI, and AI-powered business solutions
• Strong proficiency in Python for data science, combined with solid software engineering fundamentals
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to independently lead projects end‑to‑end, including effective collaboration with non‑technical business stakeholders
• Experience with information retrieval techniques, especially retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), is a plus
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps is advantageous
• Proficiency in German is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Design and build data science solutions, across TÜV SÜD domains (e.g., medical technology, elevators, automotive, product testing, …)
• Engineer LLM solutions, in particular in the area of conversational AI, end to end: prompt design / refinement, retrieval pipelines, safety / guardrails, and systematic evaluation
• Support in monitoring and improving deployed solutions by screening quality, latency, and cost; triaging user feedback; and resolving incidents
• Collaborate in cross‑functional, agile teams with data scientists, software engineers, and subject‑matter experts
• Prototype, experiment, and benchmark new approaches
• Identify trends in unstructured data processing and sourcing (OCR / document parsing, embeddings, etc.)
• Contribute to internal tooling, documentation, and enablement for LLM development and evaluation

Your Tasks
