In this role, you’ll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Data Engineer - Data Platforms, you will develop, maintain, evaluate, and test data / AI solutions. You will be involved in data engineering activities like creating pipelines / workflows for Source to Target and implementing solutions that tackle the client’s needs.

Your primary responsibilities include :

• Stand up and operate cloud data / AI platforms (e.g. Databricks, Azure ML) with policies for security, access, backup / restore.
• Implement platform automation, cost controls, and environment management (dev / test / prod).
• Integrate platform telemetry into organization‑wide monitoring and dashboards.
• Design and implement ETL / ELT pipelines for AI training, validation, and inference use cases.
• Automate data refresh and quality checks; implement lineage and auditability.
• Collaborate on schema evolution, partitioning, cost / performance tuning.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Strong fundamentals Computer Science
• Several years of experience in SQL, Python, Spark; Databricks notebooks / jobs; Delta Lake / Parquet.
• Data quality tooling, orchestration (e.g. ADF, Airflow), and secure data access patterns.
• Databricks administration, workspaces / jobs / compute; cloud IAM; network / security basics.
• Scripting (Python / Bash), IaC (Terraform / ARM or equivalent).
• Flexible and adaptable with an aptitude for quick learning and applying new technologies.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills able to liaise effectively with different team members.
• You have strong technical and analytical abilities, and a knack for driving impact and growth.
• You’re great at solving problems by looking at things differently, debugging, troubleshooting, and designing & implementing solutions to complex technical issues.
• You thrive on teamwork and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and written German (C1 level) and English (B2 level) language skills.
