Overview
Are you a technically skilled, hands-on engineer with a strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail? Penta Infra is looking for a Data Center Service Engineer (DSE) to strengthen our operations team in Berlin. This role is based at an operational data center with ambitious plans to significantly increase the site’s capacity.
Location: Berlin
What you will do
- Operating and maintaining critical data center infrastructure – electrical, mechanical, and security systems
- Incident response – respond to alarms and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ensure proper follow-up
- Maintenance coordination – execute and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance, including vendor coordination
- Change & risk management – work under strict change management and permit-to-work procedures
- Remote Hands services – support customers with technical assistance inside the data center
- Documentation & reporting – keep logs, maintenance records, and incident reports accurate and up to date
- Compliance & safety – ensure activities comply with internal procedures, safety rules, and standards (EN 50600, Uptime principles, ISO norms)
- Continuous improvement – contribute to operational improvements and optimization of procedures
- On-call responsibilities – provide out-of-hours support for critical facility alarms and customer remote hands requests, including remote troubleshooting and on-site intervention
Who you are
- Completed technical vocational training (Ausbildung) or Fach Hochschule in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a comparable technical discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in a technical operations role, preferably within a data center or mission-critical environment
- Solid technical understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Comfortable working according to defined procedures, safety rules, and regulated operational environments
- Hands-on mentality with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
- Thrives in a dynamic, international work environment with an informal but professional culture
- Motivated to continuously learn and grow professionally
- Available for full-time employment (40 hours per week)
- Valid EU work permit and reside in Germany; living within 1 hour driving of Berlin or willing to relocate
- Willing to participate in on-call duties and/or shift work if required
- Proficient in German and English (written and spoken)
