Job summary

Venquis is hiring a Data & Backend Engineer for Cologne or Munich. You will design, build and maintain database integrations and REST APIs connecting business systems, while developing data warehouse structures and AI pipelines to support internal applications.

You will work within an international IT team, ownership of projects, and opportunities to influence internal systems with strong SQL, ETL/ELT, APIs and CI/CD experience. German is a plus and English is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, data warehouse development, database design, API development or similar.
• Strong SQL skills and ETL/ELT pipelines experience.
• Experience building APIs and integrating databases and business systems.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD processes, ideally Azure DevOps or comparable platform.
• Interest in AI infrastructure; experience integrating LLMs is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, practical mindset and ability to work collaboratively.
• Business-fluent English; German language skills are an advantage.
