Zusammenfassung

SSC Space in Gilching, Germany is seeking a Mission Planning Systems Engineer to support cyber security and information systems for space missions. You will review procedures, identify threats, and develop response plans within a security-conscious, international team.

The role requires a technical degree in IT/cyber security, strong Linux and Python experience, and fluency in English. A willingness to participate in audits and to work closely with Cyber Security Manager is essential.

Qualifikationen

• Must have a technical degree in IT systems, cyber security, computer science or equivalent.
• Proven professional experience in IT systems security.
• Strong knowledge of security concepts, encryption, vulnerability analysis, etc.
• Extensive practical knowledge of Linux OS (Debian, Ubuntu) in a terminal.
• Experience in software development (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Django) and testing.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox) and CVSS.
• Willingness to undergo security audits.
• Confidentiality and reliability.
• Fluency in English.

• Detect and classify anomalies; create a solution concept.
• Identify threats and prepare response plans; develop a signature-ready operational solution.
• Maintain the security risk register by identifying new cyber risks.
• Prepare training materials and train project staff in IT security.
• Provide regular reporting and escalate to Cyber Security Manager for concrete risks.
• Review system against customer security requirements and propose rectifications.
• Define cyber security processes and workflows in engineering area.
• Define new projects and technical solutions in cyber security.
• Further develop tools for analysis and report creation.

Requirements

• Technical degree in IT systems, cyber security, computer science or equivalent
• Profound professional experience in the field of IT systems security industry
• In-depth knowledge of cyber security-related topics (security concepts, encryption, vulnerability analysis, etc.)
• Extensive practical knowledge in Linux OS (Debian, Ubuntu) in a Terminal
• In-depth knowledge of software development (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Django) and software testing (static, dynamic, fuzzing)
• Familiar with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox), cryptography and Common Vulnerability Scoring System standard (CVSS)
• Willingness to undergo security audits
• Confidentiality and reliability
• Good inter-personal and communication skills
• Fluency in English

The Following Additional Qualifications Are An Advantage

• Understanding of latest technological advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker
• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle
• Previous experience working in a Scrum Team

Responsibilities

• Review and analysis of the procedures and applications in information security (access protection, encryption configuration control, vulnerability analysis, malware detection, database activities) regularly running in the daily business, under prior analysis of the project requirements in the cyber security area
• Detection and classification of system anomalies in the local security environment, creation of a solution concept
• Identification of potential threats to the information and communication systems, preparation of a response plan, review of implementation and development of a signature‑ready and efficient operational solution, followed by escalation in case of breaches
• Processing the security risk register by continuously identifying new cyber security risks and threats
• Preparation of training materials and regular training of project staff in the context of IT Security
• Regular reporting and fast escalation to the Cyber Security Manager System Evolution as well as Security Manager in case of a concrete risk situation in the IT Security area, e.g. critical vulnerabilities
• Regular review and documentation of the system against the security requirements defined by the customer; in the event of deviations, preparation of appropriate rectification concepts and implementation
• Definition of cyber security processes and workflows in the engineering area
• Definition of new projects and technical solutions in the cyber security area
• Further development of the tools used in the area of analysis and report creation
