KLA is seeking a Field Service Engineer in Germany to support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of semiconductor capital equipment. The role requires hands-on electrical/mechatronics expertise and strong customer-facing skills within a regional travel footprint.

Based ideally in Reutlingen/Metzingen/Tübingen area, you will travel across southern Germany and occasionally internationally to support customers. Fluent English and German are required.

Qualifikationen

• University degree in electrotechnical engineering, mechatronics or related technical field.
• Relevant experience within the semiconductor field or capital equipment with a technical customer-facing role.
• Experience with electronic semiconductor capital equipment and/or installation is a plus.
• Experience combining electrical/mechanical/control systems in a mechatronic environment.
• Knowledge of 3 phase voltage, PLC and operating systems.
• Chassis-level fault-finding experience is advantageous.
• Fluent in English and German; strong communication and customer interfacing skills.
• Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as needed.

The KLA Services team headquartered in Milpitas, CA is our service organization that consists of Service Sales and Marketing, Spares Supply Chain management, Field Operations, Engineering, Product Training, and Technical Support.

Group/Division SPTS wafer processing solutions

SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments.

SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

Key Tasks

• Provide install support to customers encompassing system commissioning, system upgrade and preventative maintenance support.


• Generate a close working relationship with the customers in the region to enable the company to sell its product portfolio.


• Provision of feedback, in the approved format, enabling the pro-active identification of product and business process improvements.


• Timely completion of all field visits reports (expenses, field returns etc.)


• Provide remote install and technical support to customers.

Travel requirements

You are based ideally in Reutlingen/Metzingen/Tübingen area (or willing to relocate there) and flexible to travel within the wider South German region as well as in Austria (Villach and Graz). Occasional travel to the UK, US and Asia might occur as well.

Minimum Qualifications

• University degree in electrotechnical engineering, mechatronics or related technical field.


• Relevant experience within the semiconductor field or other capital equipment arena, combined with a technical customer facing role.


• Advantage would be an experience with electronic semiconductor capital equipment and/or installation expertise.


• Experience of combining electrical/ mechanical/control system as used in a mechatronic environment.


• Knowledge of 3 phase voltage, PLC and operating systems.


• Fault finding to chassis level would be a distinct advantage.


• Proficiency in spoken and written English and German is needed.


• Excellent communication and customer interfacing skills.


• Flexibility to travel regionally even internationally to support the customer.


• Ability to work alone or unsupervised for extended period, often in challenging situations.


• Systematic and logical approach to problem solving.


• Good organizational skills.
