Job summary

Cytiva in Dassel, Germany, is seeking a Custom Projects Scientist to lead customer-focused diagnostics service projects. The role combines project leadership, lab execution, scientific consulting, and technical reporting to deliver high-quality service offerings.

You will report to the Team Leader - Membranes and Diagnostic Applications and be based on site in Dassel. Requirements include a MSc in a related field, hands-on biomolecular analysis, and fluency in German and English.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience leading customer-facing scientific projects in diagnostics or life sciences.
• Experience defining project scope, timelines, and resource needs with customers.
• Hands-on laboratory work in biomolecular analysis, assay development, or related techniques.
• Experience analyzing data and reporting to external customers.
• Fluent in German and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead customer-driven service projects from inquiry through completion focusing on execution.
• Serve as primary scientific contact for new diagnostic/assay development projects.
• Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and resources with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Execute laboratory experiments and analyses to support customer projects.
• Analyze data and generate technical reports and recommendations for customers.

What you will do:

The Custom Projects Scientist is responsible for leading customer-focused diagnostic service projects and acting as the scientific interface between customers and Cytiva’s Diagnostics business. The role combines project leadership, laboratory execution, scientific consulting, and technical reporting to deliver high-quality service offerings that support customer success. This position reports to the Team Leader - Membranes and Diagnostic Applications with a dotted line to Diagnostics Services Leader and is part of the Diagnostics Services Team located in Dassel, Germany and will be an on-site role.

• Lead customer-driven service projects from initial inquiry through project completion focusing especially on the execution part.
• Serve as the primary scientific point of contact for customers requesting new diagnostic and assay development projects.
• Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Execute laboratory experiments and analytical studies required to support customer projects.
• Analyze experimental data and generate comprehensive customer-facing technical reports and recommendations.

Who you are:

• Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience leading customer-facing scientific or technical projects within diagnostics, life sciences, biotechnology, CRO, or related industries.
• Demonstrated experience preparing project proposals, defining project scope, establishing timelines, and managing customer expectations.
• Experience performing hands-on laboratory work involving biomolecular analysis, assay development, protein characterization, or related techniques.
• Experience analyzing scientific data and preparing professional technical reports for external customers.
• Fluent in German and English.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technologies and data interpretation.
• Diagnostic assay development, immunoassays, molecular diagnostics, or biomarker characterization.
• Working directly with external customers in a service, applications, consulting, or contract research environment.
