Job summary

Cloover is seeking a senior risk professional based in Berlin to own escalated B2B credit decisions with an independent risk view and a lean, automated process. You’ll work closely with the Risk Lead and a 4-person team on underwriting and portfolio management.

You will help build a risk strategy to minimize delinquencies, turn learnings into sharper rules, and shape the SME quality assurance framework. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role in a fast-growing fintech.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on B2B or SME lending experience, incl. working capital lines or project financing.
• Degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting or a quantitative field such as mathematics or statistics.

Responsibilities

• Decide escalated B2B credit files with defensible calls, on time.
• Pressure-test underwriting proposals and flag red flags before they hit the book.
• Help shape a credit risk strategy to keep delinquencies and operating risk low.
• Turn learnings from escalations into sharper rules for more straight-through decisions.
• Build and own the SME quality assurance framework with quarterly improvements.
• Shape the risk agenda with the team and provide an operator’s view for Cloover to win.

Your role

Energy Loans installers juggle uneven cash flows: suppliers get paid long before customers pay. Cloover closes that gap with financing that fits how installers actually work. You'll be the risk voice that makes those deals smarter, with your own approval mandate and a lean, automated process behind you.

You'll report to the Risk Lead and work within a team of 4. Underwriting and portfolio management bring you their toughest cases, and you bring the independent risk view.

Your mission

• Decide escalated B2B credit files with well‑argued, defensible calls, on time.
• Pressure‑test underwriting proposals and catch red flags, like negative equity or liquidity stress, before they hit the book.
• Help build a credit risk strategy that keeps delinquencies and installer operational risk low.
• Turn what you learn from escalations into sharper rules, so more decisions go straight through.
• Build and own the SME quality assurance framework: visible, consistent, improving every quarter.
• Shape the risk agenda with the team, bringing an operator’s view on what Cloover can leverage to win.

Your profile

We care more about how you think and what you've built than where you've been. Here’s what will set you up for success in this role:

• 5+ years of hands‑on B2B or SME lending experience, from working capital lines to project financing. Structured or trade finance is a plus.
• Holds a degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting or a quantitative field such as mathematics or statistics.
• Reads financials, credit reports and ratings fluently, and explains in a few lines why a deal works or doesn't.
• Has held an approval mandate or given credit second opinions, and makes confident calls on incomplete information.
• Shapes the right yes instead of just holding the line, and says no clearly when nothing works.
• Thinks in data and processes, and gets excited about what AI can automate.
• Based in Berlin and energized by being in the room. We're intentionally office‑first: decisions get made in real time, prototypes get stress‑tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten meters away. If that's how you thrive, you'll feel at home here.
• Speaks German at B2 level or above, enough to read financial statements and credit documents.
