Compliance Manager Europe

Location: Besigheim (Germany) or Westhausen (Germany)

Job Summary

The regional Compliance Manager oversees ATG - Europe's product compliance program, ensuring products meet EU regulations and quality standards by developing and updating policies, monitoring regulatory changes, collaborating with business units, and maintaining product documentation for the region. This role indirectly reports to the Sr Global Compliance Manager, partners with business unit leaders and executive management; and serves as a subject matter expert regarding the interpretation of local and government regulations pertaining to product compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, review, interpret and provide guidance regarding European regulations related to product safety, packaging, labeling, and environmental compliance (e.g., REACH, RoHS, WEEE, CLP, EPR, CE)
  • Work with global compliance team to ensure product compliance meets requirements of countries where products are being sold
  • Ensure supply chain compliance with applicable laws and standards, including customs, sustainability, and ethical sourcing. Work with Quality and Engineering Department to develop and maintain compliance documentation and audit processes
  • Collaborate with R&D, procurement, legal, global compliance team, business units and quality teams to ensure compliance is embedded in product development and sourcing
  • Support in other compliance audits according to European legislation e.g. supply chain act, ESG and other legal requirements
  • Lead internal training and awareness programs on compliance topics
  • Support incident management and corrective actions related to non-compliance
  • Work with customers to address product compliance requests and needs
  • Work with legal team to liaise with external regulatory bodies and industry associations
Critical Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Law, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance management, preferably in FMCG or manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks
  • Basic SAP R/3 knowledge
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Prior experience working with risk management departments and environmental health and safety is a plus
  • Fluent in English & German; additional European languages are a plus
