Job summary

SE3 Labs in Munich is seeking a Communications & Social Media Associate to turn conversations with founders, engineers and customers into clear essays, explanations and posts that explain what we build.

You will work directly with the founders, our technical team and the creative director, with the team in Munich. We would rather publish fewer excellent pieces than fill a calendar, so you’ll have protected time to research, draft and revise.

Qualifications

• Excellent English writing with samples showing independent thought and revision.
• Based in Munich or willing to relocate.
• Eligible to work on defence-related projects and, where required, obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Story Finding: identify the result, observation or argument worth sharing from engineers, founders and customers.
• Writing & Editing: produce essays, explanations, short papers, website copy and social posts.
• Founder Voice: help founders express ideas in their own voice across channels.
• Publishing: manage drafts to publication, select audience, format and timing.
• Talks & Announcements: prepare interviews, talks and announcements.
• Visual Material: plan photographs and footage with the creative director and photographers.
• Accuracy & Approvals: keep drafts and sources organized and obtain approvals before publishing.

SE3 Labs builds spatial intelligence and autonomy software for unmanned systems. We combine 3D computer vision, state estimation and AI to help autonomous platforms perceive their surroundings, know where they are and operate when GPS and other sensors become unreliable. About the Role

As Communications & Social Media Associate , you'll turn conversations with our founders, engineers and customer-facing colleagues into essays, explanations and posts that help customers, partners and future colleagues understand what we build. You'll work directly with the founders, our technical team and our creative director, with the team in Munich. We would rather publish fewer excellent pieces than fill a calendar, so you'll have protected time to research, draft and revise.

What You'll Work On

• Story Finding: Speak with engineers, founders and colleagues working with customers to find the result, observation or argument worth sharing, and understand the evidence behind it.
• Writing & Editing: Write and edit essays, product explanations, short technical papers, website copy and social posts.
• Founder Voice: Help the founders express their ideas in their own voices and build a consistent presence across founder and company channels.
• Publishing: Take pieces from first draft through feedback and publication, choose the audience, format, channel and timing with the founders, and learn from the response.
• Talks & Announcements: Prepare interviews, talks and announcements by researching the audience and finding useful examples and questions.
• Visual Material: Plan photographs and footage before important tests, visits and events with our creative director and specialist photographers or filmmakers.
• Accuracy & Approvals: Keep drafts and sources organised, check claims with the people who know, and obtain approvals before publishing.

Your Profile

You take responsibility for finishing what you start, raise a concern when a draft is wrong and use direct feedback to improve your work.

You write excellent English, with samples that show independent thought and careful revision. Your best work might come from a student publication, an internship, a personal blog or a research project.

You're a recent graduate or have up to three years of experience. Previous full-time communications experience is not required.

You're curious about technology and can research, check facts and explain complex subjects without losing what matters.

You have good editorial judgement and notice unsupported claims, empty phrases and details that change the meaning of a sentence.

You're based in Munich or willing to relocate. Strong German is a plus, particularly for work with German customers and institutions. Given the nature of SE3's work in the defence sector, candidates must be eligible to work on defence-related projects and, where required, obtain the relevant security clearance.

• Strong spoken & written German.

• Intro Call (30 min): Let's get to know each other.
• Paid Writing Exercise: Turn a technical interview we supply into a short post and a longer explanation, then revise both after our feedback.
• Writing Interview (1 hr): We discuss your writing samples, how you researched them and what you contributed to each.
• Team Dinner / Lunch: Meet the team and see whether it is a strong fit on both sides.
