Job summary

FST Technical Services, Inc. invites qualified professionals to join our Commissioning (Cx) Division. The role centers on verifying testing, validating field installations, and coordinating with project teams on data center sites across the U.S.

Willingness to travel and temporary relocation is essential. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of building systems interconnectivity, problem-solving abilities, and a background in HVACR or related engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Degree in HVACR/mechanical/electrical engineering or construction management.
• 5+ years in maintenance, construction, or engineering controls; 1+ year in data center commissioning.
• 3+ years interconnecting building systems (pumps, fans, motors, chillers, BAS, electrical distribution, fire alarm).
• Knowledge of construction drawings, specs, bid process, and related documents.
• Preferred: EIT/ACP/CEM or similar; OSHA10; BIM familiarity.

• Complete office assignments, time and expense management, in-field validation, and test witnessing.
• Lead meetings, solve technical issues, maintain client relations on projects.
• Support scheduling, documentation training, and safety programs.

Job description

Our focus is on ensuring that mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and associated systems are properly designed, installed, and tested to meet client requirements and design intent.

Position Summary

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical commissioning expertise and ideally have previous experience within data center projects. They should have a strong understanding of building system interconnectivity and aptitude for problem solving. Preferably you are open to travel and future temporary relocation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Primary activities include completing office assignments, time and expense management, in-field installation validation, field observation reports, functional performance testing, meeting attendance and documentation, on-site and factory witness testing, submittal reviews, and design documentation evaluation.
• Additional activities include executing target billable hours, managing tasks within time budgeted, leading cx meetings, assisting the construction team with identifying/solving technical issues when they arise, and maintaining positive relations with existing clients on assigned projects.
• Administrative activities include supporting the team leader in coordinating with other project engineers and senior project engineers regarding weekly staff scheduling, training/mentoring team members on proper documentation, field procedures, and equipment usage, and participating in the company-wide safety and training programs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in HVACR, mechanical or electrical engineering, construction management or an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology or related trade school, construction, maintenance, or engineering controls experience
• 5+ years employment in a staff or intern position related to maintenance, construction, or engineering controls and/or 1+ years in the data center commissioningindustry
• 3+ years of experience managing the interconnectivity of building equipment including pumps, fans, motors, air ventilation, chillers, boilers, steam distribution, heat absorption, building automation systems, optimization techniques, electrical distribution, and fire alarm systems.
• Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, bid process, and ancillary industry documents

• Communication: Effective verbal and written skills, with public speaking and presentation capabilities.
• Physical Fitness: Able to lift 30+ pounds, climb ladders, and work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.
• Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Trade association involvement
• EIT, ACP, CEMor similar certification from experience
• OSHA10 or other safe workplace certifications
• Familiarity with building information modeling

Salary range: $100,000 to $130,000 depending on experience plus comprehensive benefits, monthly per diem and mobilization support
