Role Overview

The Commercial Director (f / m / d) Mass Retail Channel Germany reports to the Senior Sales Director and is based in Neuss.

What you will do

The role of the Commercial Director is to accelerate our Mass retail channel strategy within Germany. With a focus on Grocery & Discount (LEH + Discount) as key channels for growth, this role will deliver the successful execution of our Go to Market Strategy, meet, and exceed our KPIs and shape our medium to longer term future plans with our customers. The successful candidate will be a people focused, courageous and results‑oriented leader, fully embracing an end‑to‑end and entrepreneurial mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Channel Ownership: Full commercial ownership of the Grocery and Discount channels in Germany.
  • Customer Strategy: Develop and execute differentiated strategies for each retailer, aligned with broader commercial goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach and develop a team of National Account Managers and Key Account Executives.
  • P & L Management: Own the sales forecast, gross margins, trade spends, promotional budgets and revenue targets per customer.
  • Negotiation Excellence: Lead annual negotiations with local and regional customers including buying groups.
  • Retailer Relationships: Build strong, trust‑based partnerships with top retailer partners.
  • Leadership Contribution: Contribute to wider Germany sales success as a key member of the leadership team, deputising for Senior Sales Director as required.

Required Experience
  • Outstanding track record of success in sales (mass and/or discount channel ideal, but not required) with a minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience at senior leadership level.
  • Strong track record in negotiations, trade‑spend management & market‑share growth.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning and flawless execution.
  • Proven experience with people development.
  • International experience an advantage.
