Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) who is not only strategic but also hands-on, capable of providing direct user support and maintenance on branch infrastructure.

The Chief Information Officer will be responsible for overseeing the subsidiary elements of the global information technology strategy and implementation, while also maintaining four international branch sites, , approaching 50 Users.

Reporting directly to the management board, with a dotted line to the Head of European IT in London, the ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and the ability to work directly with end-users to resolve issues. This role requires a blend of strategic vision and practical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Alignment of Global IT Strategic Planning to our European Subsidiary: Support and implement our comprehensive IT strategy to the EMEA region, making sure that regional nuances are considered and provided for.
  • Hands-On User Support: Offer direct support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
  • System Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of all IT systems in EMEA, including servers, networks, and applications.
  • Security: Work with our Global Cyber Security and Governance Team to provide robust security practices to protect company data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers for the EMEA region.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions that meet the company's needs.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends and assess their potential impact on the company's operations.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Significant experience in IT, with more recent experience in an IT leadership role.
  • Must have experience in a heavily regulated environment. Ideally Insurance or Financial Services
  • Experience in hands-on user support is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in network administration, system management, and user support. Experience with cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data management is preferred.
  • Experience with (re)insurance and European business data regulation is essential (DORA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Knowledge and Experience of Risk Management practices.
  • Fluent in both English and German.
